Description
The Project Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing site-level delivery across assigned regions or clusters within Kenya. The role ensures that all project activities—from permitting and contractor mobilisation to site completion and handover—are delivered on time, within scope, and in compliance with local regulatory and operational requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Work Package Planning (Per Region / Cluster)
Develop detailed site-level schedules and work orders across assigned stations and county clusters.
Coordinate access approvals, permits, and wayleaves with relevant stakeholders, including county authorities and landowners.
Align contractor capacity, resource allocation, and sequencing to meet delivery targets.
Ensure planning aligns with local regulatory requirements and site readiness conditions.
Contractor Delivery Management
Issue complete site packs, including scope, drawings, and method statement requirements.
Manage and monitor daily site progress, productivity, and adherence to quality and safety standards.
Ensure compliance with Health & Safety requirements in line with applicable regulatory bodies.
Verify completion of deliverables prior to Quality Assurance (QA) submission.
Dependency Coordination
Coordinate critical delivery dependencies, including:
Power readiness
Fibre readiness
Pole / civil infrastructure readiness
Identify and manage site not ready scenarios, including root cause analysis and recovery planning.
Maintain and actively manage a blockers log, including clear ownership, escalation, and due dates.
Cost / Change Inputs (Operational)
Track site-level changes, variations, and scope deviations with supporting evidence.
Compile and maintain claims evidence packs for submission to relevant stakeholders to support commercial decisions.
Enforce strict change control processes to prevent scope creep, ensuring all deviations are formally approved and documented.
Handover Pack Readiness
Ensure completeness and accuracy of site handover packs, including:
Installation photos
As-built documentation
Equipment serial numbers
Test results and commissioning records
Submit completed packs to QA for inspection and acceptance.
Track rework items, ensure timely closure, and manage re-submissions through to final acceptance.
Compliance & Governance
Ensure compliance with applicable Kenyan legislation and standards including but not limited to:
Employment Act 2007
Occupational Health & Safety requirements
Telecommunications and infrastructure regulations
Ensure adherence to internal governance, project controls, and contractual obligations.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Site delivery timelines vs plan
First-time right QA pass rate
Reduction in site not ready occurrences
Contractor productivity and performance
Rework levels and turnaround time
Handover pack accuracy and acceptance rates
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Project Management, Construction, or related field
Minimum 3–6 years' experience in project delivery within telecommunications, fibre, or infrastructure environments
Proven experience managing contractors and multi-site deployments
Experience working within Kenya or East African markets (preferred)
