Role Overview

Let your passion for people and operational excellence drive your success at Sodexo. As the in‑Unit Human Resources Manager, you will support a high‑profile environment by leading frontline employee relations, onboarding, payroll, labor relations, and compliance while serving as the key liaison between hourly teams, management, and Sodexo leadership. This role offers the opportunity to help build and grow a newly formed team while gaining exposure to senior leaders and future career pathways within Sodexo.

In this position, you will lead daily HR operations by championing a fair, consistent, people‑first employee experience through investigations, coaching, and issue resolution. You will drive recruitment and onboarding efforts to build a strong, engaged workforce, while ensuring all HR records and processes remain compliant with federal, state, and local labor laws. You will oversee payroll administration with precision, support labor relations through CBA interpretation and grievance handling, and advance HR initiatives that strengthen culture, engagement, performance, and team development.

What You'll Do

  • Lead daily HR operations — Oversee hourly employee relations, investigations, and workplace issue resolution with fairness and consistency.

  • Manage recruitment and onboarding — Drive hiring, interviewing, and new‑hire orientation to build a strong, compliant workforce.

  • Ensure HR compliance — Maintain accurate records, I‑9s, personnel files, and adherence to federal, state, and local labor laws.

  • Administer payroll processes — Oversee payroll accuracy, timelines, and regulatory alignment.

  • Support labor relations — Partner on CBA interpretation, grievance handling, and union‑related communication.

  • Drive HR initiatives — Implement programs that strengthen culture, engagement, performance, and team development.

What We Offer

Compensation is fair and equitable, partially determined by a candidate's education level or years of relevant experience. Salary offers are based on a candidate's specific criteria, like experience, skills, education, and training. Sodexo offers a comprehensive benefits package that may include:

  • Medical, Dental, Vision Care and Wellness Programs
  • 401(k) Plan with Matching Contributions
  • Paid Time Off and Company Holidays
  • Career Growth Opportunities and Tuition Reimbursement

More extensive information is provided to new employees upon hire.

What You Bring

  • HR experience in fast‑paced environments — Proven success supporting large, diverse teams with high‑volume HR needs.

  • Expertise in HR practices — Strong understanding of employee relations, compliance, and performance management.

  • Union environment experience — Skilled in contract administration, grievances, and labor partnership.

  • California labor law knowledge — Deep familiarity with state and federal HR regulations.

  • Strong communication skills — Clear, professional communicator; bilingual English/Spanish to support workforce needs.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities — Organized, detail‑driven, and effective in a fast‑paced, high‑visibility setting.
