USA Tax Manager (Year-End Tax Specialist)

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced USA Tax Manager to join our growing team. This is a senior-level position responsible for managing complex year-end tax preparation, overseeing client accounting functions, and leading a team of bookkeepers and accounting professionals.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with U.S. taxation, advanced QuickBooks expertise, strong leadership capabilities, and a proven track record of managing accounting teams while maintaining exceptional client service standards.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and oversee the preparation and review of U.S. federal and state tax returns for individuals, partnerships, LLCs, S-Corporations, and C-Corporations.
Lead year-end tax planning, tax preparation, and tax compliance processes across multiple client accounts.
Review financial statements, general ledgers, reconciliations, and supporting documentation to ensure accuracy and tax readiness.
Supervise, mentor, and develop a team of bookkeepers and junior accounting staff.
Conduct quality control reviews of bookkeeping work and provide guidance on best practices.
Manage workflow allocation, deadlines, and team performance to ensure timely client deliverables.
Collaborate with clients to gather tax information, resolve accounting discrepancies, and provide strategic tax guidance.
Prepare and review adjusting journal entries, year-end workpapers, and tax schedules.
Ensure compliance with U.S. tax regulations and stay current with tax law changes.
Support client onboarding, process improvements, and implementation of accounting best practices.
Assist with tax notices, audits, and client tax-related inquiries.
Provide leadership in streamlining accounting and tax workflows through technology and automation.
Required Experience & Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or a related field.
Minimum 5+ years of U.S. tax preparation and accounting experience.
Minimum 2+ years of team leadership or management experience within an accounting or bookkeeping environment.
Extensive experience preparing year-end tax returns for U.S. entities and individuals.
Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Desktop.
Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, accounting principles, and tax regulations.
Experience reviewing and managing the work of bookkeepers and accounting staff.
Excellent knowledge of month-end and year-end closing procedures.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Exceptional communication and client relationship management abilities.
Ability to manage multiple clients, deadlines, and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
CPA, EA, or equivalent professional designation.
Experience with multi-state taxation.
Experience with tax software such as UltraTax, ProSeries, Lacerte, Drake, or similar platforms.
Experience working with remote accounting teams.
Exposure to payroll tax compliance and business advisory services.
