Description
The Trade Compliance & Procurement Operations Specialist owns day-to-day procurement execution and import/export compliance operations across the Diraq Group. This US-based role supports global operations and ensures compliance with the U.S. Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and Australian Defence Export Controls (DEC / DSGL).
Salary range: $95,000 – $135,000 USD base salary (California). Final compensation based on experience and location.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities – Trade Compliance & Export Controls- Own day-to-day export control and trade compliance across the Diraq Group, ensuring compliance with applicable U.S. and Australian export control regulatory requirements, including EAR and applicable Australian Defence Export Control frameworks.
- Support compliance activities relating to exports, reexports, technology transfers, deemed exports, and access to controlled technical information across Diraq’s international operations.
- Perform export classification and trade data reviews, including ECCN assessments, and maintain related documentation to support compliant movement of goods, software, and technical information.
- Support export license, permit, exemption, and recordkeeping processes, including preparing and maintaining required documentation and ensuring audit-ready compliance files.
- Review export and trade documentation for accuracy and completeness, including commercial invoices, shipping records, export records, end-user information, and supporting trade compliance paperwork.
- Partner with internal stakeholders to identify compliance risks early, provide practical guidance, and embed compliant processes into operational workflows.
- Contribute to trade compliance training, process documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen awareness and operational discipline across the business.
- Own the end-to-end procurement operations lifecycle, from purchase order execution through supplier coordination, shipment tracking, and receipt confirmation.
- Coordinate closely with customs brokers, freight forwarders, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to support timely, compliant, and cost-effective movement of goods.
- Ensure the accuracy of shipping terms, import/export documentation, and system records, including Incoterms, commercial details, and ERP data integrity.
- Monitor shipment progress, resolve operational issues or delays, and escalate risks where required to minimize disruption to research and business operations.
- Maintain organized procurement and logistics records to support traceability, reporting, and audit readiness across international transactions.
- Identify opportunities to improve procurement and logistics workflows, strengthen process consistency, and reduce friction across a growing global operation.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in trade compliance, import/export operations, procurement operations, or a closely related role within a global business environment.
- Working knowledge of U.S. export controls, including EAR, and familiarity with Australian Defence Export Controls and related compliance obligations.
- Experience supporting classification, documentation, licensing, shipment coordination, or recordkeeping activities in a regulated trade or logistics context.
- Confidence working across procurement, logistics, suppliers, and internal technical or operational teams to keep work moving in a compliant and organized way.
- Strong attention to detail, sound judgement, and the ability to manage documentation and process requirements with a high degree of accuracy.
- Experience in semiconductor, advanced technology, research, defense-adjacent, or other highly regulated environments would be viewed favorably.
