United Steel is seeking an experienced and driven Business Development Manager to join our team and take ownership of business growth across the Greater Sydney region.

About the Role

Reporting to the Sales Leadership Team, you will be responsible for developing new business opportunities while managing and growing existing customer relationships across a diverse range of industries.

Success in this role comes from your ability to build trust, understand customer requirements, and deliver solutions that create value for both the customer and the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify, develop, and secure new business opportunities across Greater Sydney
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective customers
  • Conduct regular customer visits and face-to-face meetings
  • Develop a strong understanding of customer requirements and provide tailored steel solutions
  • Prepare quotations, negotiate pricing, and close sales opportunities
  • Work closely with internal sales, operations, and customer service teams to ensure exceptional customer outcomes
  • Manage and maintain an active sales pipeline
  • Monitor market trends and competitor activity
  • Ensure customers receive the highest level of service and support
  • Contribute to the ongoing growth and success of the business

About You

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

Previous experience in Business Development, Account Management, or Industrial Distribution Sales

Strong knowledge of structural steel, tubular steel, merchant bar, and associated steel products

Experience selling within a fast-paced industrial, steel, manufacturing, or construction environment

A genuine passion for building customer relationships and conducting face-to-face sales activities

Strong customer service focus and commitment to delivering on promises

Excellent communication and relationship-building skills

A self-motivated and results-driven approach

The ability to work independently while contributing positively to a team environment

A stable employment history and desire to build a long-term career

Technical Skills

  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel
  • Experience using Pronto ERP or similar systems highly regarded
  • Strong commercial awareness and problem-solving capability
