What the job is all about:

• Application software application design in Embedded/Desktop/Server Linux, container, or similar environment.
• Developing new and extending features within the existing application framework.
• Developing interfaces that facilitate communication within and between application modules.
• Troubleshooting and debugging developed application and interactions with other system modules
• Estimate development tasks and project effort levels.
• Participating in code design and code reviews.

Who you are:

• Bachelor’s Degree, program certificate or equivalent experience Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science or related field.
• Programming experience in one or more of the following languages C, C++, Java, Go.
• Familiarity with Agile software development methods (e.g. Scrum), issue tracking (e.g. Jira) and version control systems (e.g git.)
• Minimum 5 years SW & Embedded, desktop or container-based Linux development experience.
• You revel in problem solving, take ownership of and have pride in your work.
• You enjoy the creative process of ‘finding a way’ to overcome challenges.
• You are a flexible, adaptable, self-starter that thrives in a dynamic environment.
• You like people and working/collaborating with a skilled team.
• You recognize that communication skills are as important as technical skills.
• You want to be part of a team that builds great, successful products that customers love.

Bonus points if you have the following:

• Unix/Linux command line tools, scripts scripting languages (e.g. Bash, Python).
• Experience with Docker (or similar) and container-based environments.
• Familiarity with Linux system configuration and upgrades (e.g. apt or similar package management systems).
• Linux startup, system configuration and customization of GUI environments (e.g. grub, Plymouth, X, OpenBox).
• Familiarity with Linux distribution installer environments (e.g.,d-i, ubiquity, subiquity and similar).
• Linux startup environment integration (e.g. systemd and similar) for hardware and container-based environments.
• HTML and JavaScript based Web Page development.
• Familiarity with database systems and related programming interfaces (e.g. SQL, Redis etc.).
• Live production or Broadcast industry experience or knowledge of relevant workflows, standards, and practices.
