Role Overview
This role is part of a broader enterprise initiative to establish a Data Context Layer (DCL) — a foundational capability designed to provide consistent, reusable, and scalable context across enterprise data products.
The DCL is intended to address challenges related to data fragmentation, lack of shared semantics, and inconsistent interpretation of data across systems and products. It establishes a unified layer for representing context, relationships, and meaning, enabling downstream products to operate with greater consistency, interoperability, and intelligence.
In addition, the DCL plays a critical role in enabling agentic AI capabilities across the enterprise by providing the structured context and semantic grounding required for intelligent agents to operate reliably. This includes ensuring that agent-driven workflows and decisions are based on consistent, governed, and interpretable data context, reducing risks associated with fragmentation, ambiguity, and lack of control.
Within this initiative, we are seeking an SDK / Developer Experience Engineer with strong experience in AWS cloud technologies to design and build the developer tooling, SDKs, and integration experiences that make enterprise context services easy to adopt. This role focuses on creating high-quality developer-facing assets that enable teams to consume APIs, context services, and platform capabilities consistently, securely, and with minimal friction.
The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with SDK development, developer tooling, API integration, and cloud-native systems on AWS. Familiarity with data context, semantic systems, ontologies, agentic AI, prompt engineering, and context engineering is preferred, as the tooling and SDKs may support both human developers and AI-enabled workflows.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain SDKs and developer tools that simplify consumption of enterprise APIs and context services.
- Improve developer experience by creating intuitive, consistent, and reusable integration patterns.
- Work closely with API engineers, platform teams, and architects to translate service capabilities into usable client libraries and tooling.
- Build SDK features for:
- authentication and connection setup
- context retrieval and consumption
- error handling and retries
- version compatibility
- telemetry and observability hooks
- local testing and mocking support
- Create developer-facing documentation, examples, quick starts, reference implementations, and sample applications.
- Support integrations with AWS-based services and deployment environments.
- Partner with product and platform teams to reduce adoption friction and improve usability.
- Design tooling that supports both traditional application developers and AI/agentic system builders.
- Establish standards for SDK structure, release management, backward compatibility, and versioning.
- Gather feedback from internal developers and iterate on the SDK and DX experience accordingly.
- Help ensure the developer experience reflects prompt engineering and context engineering considerations where relevant.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in software engineering, SDK development, developer tools, or developer experience roles.
- Strong hands-on experience with AWS cloud technologies.
- Experience building libraries, SDKs, wrappers, or integration tooling for APIs and services.
- Strong understanding of developer workflows, usability, and adoption friction.
- Experience with documentation, sample code, and developer support materials.
- Ability to work closely with API teams, platform engineers, and product stakeholders.
- Familiarity with data context, semantic systems, or metadata-driven platforms.
- Working knowledge of agentic AI, prompt engineering, and context engineering concepts.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with programming languages commonly used for SDKs and developer tools such as Python, TypeScript, Java, or Go.
- Familiarity with AWS services such as API Gateway, Lambda, ECS/EKS, IAM, CloudWatch, S3, or Cognito.
- Experience supporting AI-enabled or context-driven applications.
- Familiarity with ontologies, OWL, RDF, knowledge graphs, MCP, A2A, or timbr-like technologies.
- Background in developer relations, internal developer platforms, or platform enablement.
- Experience with testing frameworks, packaging, release pipelines, and observability for SDKs.
What Success Looks Like
Success in this role means:
- developers can integrate with platform services quickly and confidently
- SDKs reduce complexity and improve consistency across use cases
- documentation and examples make adoption straightforward
- the developer experience is stable, intuitive, and production-ready
- the SDK supports both enterprise applications and AI/agentic workflows
- adoption grows because the integration experience is easy and well-supported
