As a Project Manager (Mobile Service), you will oversee the end-to-end upfit process for mobile service vans, ensuring vehicles are equipped and delivered on time and to specification. This role requires strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills to manage production schedules, vendor relationships, and logistics while maintaining quality. The Project Manager serves as the central point of coordination between internal teams, the vendors, upfitters, and executive client leadership—driving operational efficiency, resolving issues quickly, and ensuring the readiness of mobile service vehicles to support the General Motors dealer network.
Project Manager (Mobile Service) Responsibilities Include:
- Lead end-to-end project management for the upfit of mobile service vans, including planning, execution, tracking, and delivery. This includes being on-site with the client 3x/week.
- Oversee ongoing vehicle production forecasting, scheduling, prioritization, and capacity planning, ensuring alignment with client targets and customer demand.
- Analyze production performance and generate regular reporting for General Motors Leadership with actionable insights to improve throughput and flag upcoming risks.
- Own all billing & invoicing activities across tool & equipment vendors, dealers and upfitters.
- Coordinate shipping and logistics to upfitters, ensuring adequate stock of tools, equipment, and vehicles to meet production schedules without delays.
- Serve as the primary escalation point for resolving issues during the upfit process, including parts shortages, shipping damage, equipment failures, or quality concerns.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, supply chain & logistics, and operations teams to ensure readiness of all upfit vehicles.
Project Manager (Mobile Service) Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, Supply Chain Management, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
- 3+ years of project management experience, preferably in automotive, fleet management, or vehicle upfit environments.
- Proven experience managing vendor & client relationships
- Demonstrated success overseeing production schedules, forecasting, and logistics in a high-volume environment.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Proficiency in data analysis and reporting; ability to translate insights into operational improvements.
- Effective communicator with experience presenting to executive leadership and cross-functional teams.
- PMP, Lean Six Sigma, or other project/process management certifications are a plus.
- Experience with General Motors or other major OEM operational processes is preferred.
- Background in mobile service operations, vehicle upfit or vehicle production is a bonus.
Project Manager Working Conditions and Physical Demands Include:
- 70% of the time, this position will be completed while sitting.
- 20% of the time, this position will be completed while walking.
- 10% of the time, this position will be completed while standing.
