The Opportunity:

Scrum Masters serve as facilitators for one or more team’s delivering software within the agile framework. They are the person responsible for understanding and establishing the objectives of each sprint/iteration and Program Increment. They bridge the needs of all project stakeholders, such as product management, operations, technical architecture, and development. The Scrum Master is responsible for providing leadership to the Scrum/Kanban team and provides guidance to the team and product owner to translate epics, stories, and other items on the sprint backlog into actionable tasks for developers. While they do not need as much context and business savvy as product owners and product managers, they must have a solid understanding of the reasoning and implications behind each initiative.

About The Role:

  • Provide leadership, experience, and expertise by managing the scrum process to improve Symcor’s ability to deliver valuable, relevant products and services.
  • Facilitate a cross-functional, agile, collaborative team spanning Technology, Product, Operations, and the EPO in the development of new products and services.
  • Provide input into budget, team, resourcing, timeline, and stakeholder expectations management.
  • Improve productivity and speed to market for the product / technology delivery teams.
  • Act as a servant leader coaching Agile teams on Agile Values and Principles to improve collaboration and delivery.
  • Facilitate Scrum Ceremonies that include Sprint Planning, Backlog Refinement, Daily Scrum Call, Sprint Review, Sprint Retrospective, PI Planning, PI Retro and ensure Agile best practices are followed.
  • Identify and remove impediments for Scrum team to keep the team moving towards the Sprint Goal
  • Promote transparency and accountability through Agile metrics and reporting.
  • Drive continuous improvement in team performance.
  • Demonstrate expertise in breaking down epics into actionable user stories, achieving high sprint velocity within corporate constraints, and effectively planning and executing sprint roadmaps.

What You Need to Succeed:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, business, information sciences or another related field.
  • SAFe required.
  • PMP, PMP-ACP, CSM/PSM are nice to have.

Experience:

  • Certified scrum master with five or more years of experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of Scrum Master experience following a structured Agile management methodology.
  • 10+ years of project delivery experience.
  • Experience in delivering projects of more than $1 million.
  • Experience working in agile teams.
  • Hands-on experience in Agile tools such as Jira, Confluence, DevOps and optimize workflows.
  • Facilitation & Coaching: Skilled in leading Agile ceremonies and coaching teams
  • Prior experience working in a startup environment or innovation lab.
  • Prior technical experience would be ideal.

Skill requirements

  • Strong knowledge of software development practices.
  • Proven ability to facilitate the effective breakdown of epics into user stories, to attain high levels of sprint velocity within corporate constraints, to plan and execute against sprint roadmaps.
  • Knowledge about tasks, backlog tracking, burn down metrics, velocity, user stories etc.
  • Excellent mentorship and leadership skills; ability to communicate technical details to a wider audience in business/user terms.
  • Mastered the Scrum Framework -- experts in Agile values & principles and know how to train, mentor, coach and facilitate other people in adopting these values.
  • Coach-Consultant mindset to the Development Team, Product Owner and Organization and with ability to offer advice, share practices and provide support for organizations regarding Agile governance.
