We are seeking an exceptional, hands-on Human Resources Director to join a high-performing acute care hospital and serve as a key member of the leadership team. This is not a desk-based HR position. We are looking for a leader who is present, approachable, and operationally focused—someone who is comfortable on the units, in leadership meetings, and at the bargaining table. The successful candidate will bring deep expertise in union labor relations, employee relations, workforce management, and regulatory compliance, while maintaining a strong commitment to employee engagement and organizational excellence.
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic and operational leadership for all Human Resources functions within the hospital.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership, department directors, managers, and frontline staff.
- Lead labor relations activities, including grievance management, contract interpretation, investigations, corrective action guidance, and partnership with union representatives.
- Foster productive labor-management relationships while ensuring consistent application of collective bargaining agreements.
- Partner with hospital leadership to address workforce challenges, retention initiatives, staffing strategies, and organizational effectiveness.
- Coach and develop leaders on employee relations, performance management, accountability, and leadership best practices.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, accreditation standards, and healthcare regulations.
- Analyze workforce metrics, labor trends, turnover, and employee engagement data to drive informed decision-making.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Master’s degree preferred.
- 3 Years of related healthcare experience required.
- Must be familiar with the hospital organization; functions of various departments; current personnel practices and techniques, including review techniques; training methods; and job analysis.
- Familiar with the labor market, laws, wage and hour regulations, and ERISA guidelines preferred.
- Knowledge of state and federal wage and hour required.
- Familiar with Joint Commission and HFAP standards.
