Kira Systems is a powerful machine learning software that identifies, extracts, and analyzes text in your contracts and other documents. We are hiring a Linux Systems Administrator with a development background for the Toronto-based portion of our Systems Team. This team is a group of DevOps-minded Linux Systems Administrators who run our production infrastructure.

Our Systems Team is dedicated to building and automating our infrastructure. Collaboration and attention to detail are a must: you will be building our automation and infrastructure, and running and maintaining our core technology. If you are inventive, creative, and driven we want to hear from you.

This position is intended for candidates in the Greater Toronto Area, with the expectation that they would regularly spend time in our downtown office. Partial-remote is an option.

Here is what we hope you will bring:

• 3+ years of Systems Administration background in Linux environments
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, or experience as a software developer
• Automation scripting skills
• Sound knowledge of cloud-native design patterns and DevOps principles

• 1–2 years experience in a primarily software development role
• Working familiarity with the Java Virtual Machine (JVM)
• Working familiarity with some or all of Clojure, Go, Python, SQL
• Experience with container technologies and platforms, especially Kubernetes
• Experience with both SaaS and On-Premise hosting models

In this position you will:

• Design and deploy automation scripts
• Improve and maintain site availability, scalability, service and system performance
• Architect and develop infrastructure with Amazon Web Services (AWS)
• Design and provision infrastructure components (e.g., Kubernetes, AWS EC2, Autoscaling, CloudFormation)
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including our Dev, DevOps, and the Quality Engineering teams
• Troubleshoot and solve problems within our production environment
