About the job:

Kent is looking for an experienced Industrial Control Systems (ICS) Administrator to support, maintain, and continuously improve ICS environments across new and existing facilities. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), industrial networks, and associated platforms operate safely, reliably, securely, and in compliance with internal standards and industry best practices. This role will work closely with Engineering, Operations, Automation, and IT teams to support control system lifecycle activities, implement standards, troubleshoot complex technical issues, and support modernization initiatives across the organization.

Skills and Responsibilities:

Responsibilities:

  • Support the administration, maintenance, and optimization of Industrial Control Systems (ICS) across operating facilities.
  • Participate in the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of internal ICS integration standards and procedures.
  • Ensure new and existing facilities comply with Industrial Control System Requirements (ICSR) and established company standards.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs), and associated industrial control networks.
  • Design, configure, implement, and validate industrial network architectures supporting operational technology environments.
  • Plan and execute software updates, patches, and system maintenance activities while minimizing operational disruption.
  • Support system performance monitoring, diagnostics, and reliability improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including Operations, Engineering, Cybersecurity, and Information Technology, to ensure secure and reliable control system operation.
  • Assist with system documentation, configuration management, and change management processes.
  • Provide technical support during commissioning, startup, maintenance, and troubleshooting activities.
  • Participate in root cause investigations and recommend corrective actions related to control system issues.
  • Support cybersecurity initiatives and compliance requirements applicable to industrial control systems.
  • Contribute to Work Process Control (WPC) development and implementation activities, as required.
  • Support online platform migration projects while maintaining operational continuity.
  • Assist with the implementation and support of standard Level 3 (L3) platforms and associated infrastructure.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in systems, standards, and operational processes.

In addition to the responsibilities listed herein, the employee may be required to perform other ad-hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management. These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role within the organization. Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience:

Knowledge/Qualification/Training/Certification:

  • Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, Automation Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related technical discipline.
  • Minimum 10+ years of experience supporting Industrial Control Systems in industrial, manufacturing, oil & gas, chemical, power generation, or related environments.
  • Strong knowledge of DCS, PLC, SCADA, HMI, and industrial automation systems.
  • Experience with industrial network architecture, configuration, and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with Industrial Control System Requirements (ICSR) and applicable industry standards.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and best practices for Operational Technology (OT) environments.
  • Experience performing software updates, patches, and lifecycle management activities for ICS platforms.
  • Working knowledge of Level 3 (L3) platforms and plant information systems is considered an asset.
  • Experience supporting brownfield and greenfield facility projects is preferred.
  • Familiarity with change management, configuration management, and documentation control processes.
  • Vendor certifications or training related to major DCS/PLC platforms are considered an asset.

  • Excellent command of the English language in both oral and written communication.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively across Operations, Engineering, IT, and Management teams.
  • Ability to clearly document technical issues, solutions, and recommendations.
