About the role

We are seeking Expressions of Interest for a Project Manager with experience in HDD-related projects to join our Operations team. The position will initially be based from either our Perth or Brisbane office to support project planning before transitioning to project-based work in Victoria or Tasmania.

Reporting to the HDD Operations Manager, this role is responsible for leading the successful delivery of major infrastructure projects, ensuring works are completed safely, to the required quality standards, on time and within budget.

You will take ownership of project planning, mobilisation, delivery, commercial performance, stakeholder management and team leadership, while maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality, productivity, risk management and client outcomes.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead project mobilisation, setup and day-to-day delivery across all phases of the project lifecycle
  • Drive safe project delivery by promoting a strong safety culture and ensuring compliance with HSEQ requirements, legislation, policies and procedures
  • Manage project scope, schedule, budget, productivity and quality to achieve contractual, commercial and operational targets
  • Prepare, monitor and report on forecasts, cost to complete, estimate at completion, margins, risks, opportunities and project performance
  • Oversee contract administration, change management, payment claims, invoicing and client approvals in accordance with contractual requirements
  • Lead and coordinate project teams, subcontractors, suppliers and functional support teams to deliver safe, timely and high-quality outcomes
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with clients, stakeholders, subcontractors, suppliers and internal business functions
  • Manage procurement and subcontractor performance, including due diligence, compliance, responsible procurement and ongoing performance review
  • Maintain clear project communication, reporting, document control and governance in line with project and company requirements
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement, innovation and project optimisation opportunities

About you

  • Engineering degree or equivalent qualification, with significant project management experience in construction, infrastructure, pipeline, energy or oil and gas environments
  • Proven experience managing projects from the contractor side, ideally within Tier 1 or major project environments
  • Strong commercial capability, including forecasting, cost control, budget management, contract administration and change management
  • Demonstrated field leadership experience with the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, subcontractors and stakeholders
  • Excellent planning, organising, negotiation, influencing and problem-solving skills
  • Highly effective written and verbal communication skills, including client reporting and stakeholder engagement
  • Strong understanding of safety, quality, environmental, compliance and project governance requirements
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, drive performance and maintain focus on safe, profitable and high-quality project delivery
  • A proactive, resilient and collaborative leadership style, with the ability to coach, mentor and develop project teams
  • Willingness to be initially based in Perth or Brisbane before mobilising to project locations in Victoria or Tasmania
