Description

Automation Engineer responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting automation solutions across our Network infrastructure.

This role requires strong scripting capabilities (NSO & Python), solid understanding of network architecture, and experience with CI/CD processes and release governance.

The ideal candidate has the following profile:

  • 60% NSO & Python
  • 25% Network Architecture understanding
  • 15% CI/CD & release governance

Qualifications

Required Skills

  • NSO & Python
    • Experience with network automation frameworks (e.g. Cisco NSO, Ansible, Terraform, Python)
    • Understanding of infrastructure as code / network-as-code principles
    • Strong experience developing and maintaining Cisco NSO service packages
    • Deep understanding of NSO architecture, service models (CFS/RFS), FASTMAP and service plan lifecycle
    • Solid Python3 skills with strong OOP principles and experience in transactional systems
    • Maintain NSO Application and be the goto resource for NSO topics and issues
    • Ability to work with APIs and data models (REST, JSON/YANG)
    • Experience with automated testing frameworks (Robot Framework preferred)
  • Network Architecture understanding
    • Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (L2/L3, BGP, VPNs, IPsec, VRF, segmentation)
    • Worked within a Network Operations or Engineering environment
    • Experience of Cisco ACI, IOX-XE, NXOS
  • CI/CD & release governance
    • Experience and knowledge of Git-based workflows and CI/CD pipelines (build, test, release)
    • Experience with release management in multi-service network automation platforms.
    • Good Linux knowledge including scripting and containerized environment
  • General
    • Strong troubleshooting capability & skills in complex distributed automation environments.
    • Ability to think in end-to-end service models, not just device-level configs
    • Ability to translate business/service requirements into technical workflows
    • Attention to Detail
    • Ability to mentor and coach team members
    • Ownership mindset: takes issues end-to-end until resolution
    • Strong cross-team collaboration skills (Dev, Ops, ServiceNow, vendors)
    • Ability to clearly communicate technical concepts to different audiences
    • Proactive in identifying improvements and optimisation opportunities
    • Strong self-learning capability, especially around new tools/platforms

 

Nice to have skills:

  • Understanding of network virtualization (VXLAN, EVPN)
  • Experience with telemetry & streaming (gNMI, OpenConfig)
  • Certification: Cisco DevNet Associate / Professional
