Description
The Financial Manager is responsible for overseeing the full finance function within the business. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the incumbent will partner closely with business leadership to ensure accurate financial reporting, strong financial control, and effective decision-making.
This role requires a commercially minded finance leader who can provide insights, manage financial risk, and support strategic objectives while ensuring compliance with regulatory and statutory requirements.

CIMA registration

Experience & Skills Required
Minimum 5 years' relevant experience (including post-articles experience)
Experience in financial services or insurance is advantageous
Strong financial modelling, budgeting, and forecasting skills
Strong commercial acumen and business partnering capability
Advanced Excel and financial systems proficiency
Experience with systems such as Sage, IDU, or similar advantageous
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management
Prepare and manage monthly management accounts, including variance analysis and commentary
Deliver accurate, timely, and insightful financial reporting
Develop and track key financial and operational metrics
Oversee general ledger, reconciliations, and financial data integrity
Identify financial trends, risks, and opportunities with actionable recommendations
Drive continuous improvement and automation of financial processes
Budgeting, Forecasting & Planning
Own the annual budgeting process
Prepare and maintain rolling forecasts and scenario analyses
Develop financial models to support strategic initiatives and business cases
Partner with stakeholders to align financial and operational strategies
Monitor performance against budget and provide insights
Cashflow, Treasury & Working Capital
Manage cashflow forecasting and liquidity planning
Optimise working capital (debtors, creditors, and cash cycles)
Oversee banking relationships and funding requirements
Monitor financial risk exposures
Approve and oversee payments in line with governance frameworks
Tax & Statutory Compliance
Oversee tax submissions (VAT, income tax, payroll-related filings)
Ensure compliance with IFRS, Companies Act, and regulatory requirements
Liaise with tax advisors and support tax planning
Monitor regulatory changes and assess financial impact
Audit & Internal Controls
Lead the external audit process
Prepare audit and risk committee reporting packs
Maintain a strong internal control environment
Oversee financial governance processes and policies
Ensure audit readiness and accuracy of financial records
Insurance & Risk Management
Provide financial oversight of insurance portfolio performance and risk trends
Collaborate with operational teams on financial implications of decisions
Participate in risk reviews and ensure regulatory alignment
Monitor claims, premiums, and key performance drivers
Governance & Reporting
Maintain the risk register and financial risk reporting processes
Contribute to board, executive, and committee reporting
Ensure adherence to governance standards and reporting requirements
Implement and monitor financial policies and procedures
Leadership & Team Management
Lead and develop the finance team
Build a high-performing, commercially focused finance function
Drive continuous improvement and operational excellence
Ensure appropriate resourcing and capability within the team
