Our small, agile Information Services team supports a wide range of database and application environments, giving you the chance to wear multiple hats, solve meaningful problems, and make a real impact.

As our Database Administrator, you’ll design, maintain, and optimize the Town’s database and application server infrastructure, ensuring secure, reliable, high performing systems. This hands on role spans infrastructure, security, integrations, analytics, and application support.

You bring a computer science degree, 5+ years of experience, strong communication skills, and a commitment to teamwork. You excel at analytical thinking, act with professionalism and integrity, and build effective relationships across the organization. Adaptable and curious, you’re comfortable exploring new ideas, technologies, and processes in a constantly evolving technical environment.

Please note: This position is primarily in‑office, with the possibility of working remotely 1–2 days per week. The successful candidate will also be flexible and available to work evenings and weekends on‑call as needed.

Key Accountabilities
• Administer, optimize, and secure database and application server environments, including installation, upgrades, performance tuning, troubleshooting, and maintenance planning.
• Develop and enforce database standards, access controls, security policies, and disaster recovery procedures.
• Monitor system performance and reliability, recommending improvements or redesigns as needed.
• Support application evaluations, integrations, and RFP processes to ensure systems meet organizational needs.
• Manage APIs, SQL scripting and queries, data integrations across platforms.
• Coordinate with vendors on technical projects from planning through completion.
• Oversee data backup operations, documentation, and compliance with privacy and FOIP requirements.
• Provide after hours and on call support while maintaining up to date technical skills.
• Financial ERP and ESRI(GIS) applications support

Qualifications
• Degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 5–10 years of experience in Information Systems with strong skills in:
o MS SQL, Windows Server, Active Directory
o Database security, backups, analytics, and reporting
o Cloud administration and migration
o Virtualization and storage technologies
o Project management and helpdesk documentation
• Knowledge of SSAS, SSIS, SSRS, and Visual Studio.
• Power Automate and Power BI
• Strong understanding of networking, security, and multi platform IT environments.
• Excellent analytical, problem solving, and communication skills.
• Proven ability to support organizational change and build effective working relationships.
• Certifications such as MCDBA, VCP, or experience with Fortinet firewalls, AWS, or Azure considered assets.
• Municipal experience an asset.
