Description

Our client, a leading player in the agricultural sector, is seeking an experienced Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) to support its large-scale banana operations. This role acts as both a strategic and operational partner to the farm leadership team, driving workforce productivity, compliance, and engagement through effective people strategies. The HRBP will blend high-level strategic alignment with hands-on HR execution, working closely with line managers, supervisors, and field labor teams. A vital part of this role is serving as a communication and cultural bridge between expatriate leadership and local teams, ensuring alignment, inclusion, and operational harmony. This is a full-time, on-site position based in a rural agricultural environment. Candidates must be willing and able to live and work in a remote farm setting. Responsibilities: Collaborate with farm leadership to align workforce planning with operational goals, ensuring cost-effective and appropriate staffing levels. Oversee end-to-end HR operations, including recruitment, onboarding, data management, employee relations, and exits. Maintain a strong daily presence with field teams to understand challenges and deliver practical, people-first HR solutions. Translate on-the-ground operational issues into actionable strategies that enhance labor relations, productivity, and workforce engagement. Act as a cultural and communication bridge between expatriate leadership and local teams to foster inclusive decision-making. Champion company values to create a high-performance, respectful, and engaged workforce environment. Drive morale, retention, and productivity initiatives through practical, worker-focused programs. Ensure effective onboarding, safety awareness, and integration of all workers (seasonal and permanent). Collaborate with supervisors to identify skill gaps and coordinate targeted training and upskilling opportunities. Embed simple, fair, and output-focused performance management systems suited to agricultural field realities. Develop frontline and supervisory succession pipelines in collaboration with farm leaders. Handle employee relations issues (grievances, discipline) fairly and in compliance with labor law. Maintain constructive relationships with unions and worker representatives while ensuring compliance with Tanzanian labor laws and agricultural regulations. Oversee camp operations and welfare administration, ensuring living conditions and amenities meet company standards. Benefits Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (required). Professional HR certifications or experience in agricultural/operational environments (advantageous). 5–8 years of progressive HR experience, preferably in agriculture, manufacturing, logistics, FMCG, or other labor-intensive industries. Strong record of accomplishment in managing high-volume HR operations and employee relations at the field level. Hands-on experience supporting line managers and shift/field-based employees. Strong knowledge of Tanzanian labor legislation and compliance.
