About the role:

As the Communication Manager at Odyssea, you will play a crucial role in shaping and driving our communication efforts, amplifying our impact, and ensuring our mission, values, and accomplishments are effectively communicated to a wide audience. This is a leadership position that will have a significant influence on the company's success.

The Communication Manager will focus on overseeing and guiding the implementation of the communication strategy, with the purpose to raise awareness and promote the Odyssea’s activity toward different audiences and a variety of key stakeholders.

What you'll do:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive communication and development strategies to enhance the organization's visibility and reach.
  • Oversee the creation of compelling content for various channels including the website, social media, newsletters, press releases, and reports.
  • Manage and guide the social media team in maintaining a strong online presence and engaging with our audience across platforms.
  • Foster relationships with media outlets, journalists, and influencers to secure press coverage.
  • Collaborate with program teams to gather stories, testimonials, and data for communication materials.
  • Monitor and analyze communication efforts to measure effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
  • Represent the organization at events, conferences, and meetings as needed.

Main, day-to-day duties:

  • Manage 3 direct reports within the communication department, including a Senior Digital Marketing Specialist, a Social Media Marketing Specialist, and a Graphic Designer / Video Animator
  • Supervision of the creation, implementation, and monitoring of social media content
  • Supervise creating, implementing, and monitoring digital advertising campaigns (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, Google Ads).
  • Supervision of the creation, implementation, and monitoring of Odyssea's websites.
  • Proofread, translate, and distribute press materials, such as news releases, dispatches, and media advisories.
  • Coordinate content related to Odyssea news, achievements, and fieldwork posted to the appropriate web pages and social media channels.
  • Monitor media coverage and respond to queries from journalists/editors.

Periodic duties:

  • Engage and collaborate with donors and stakeholders of the humanitarian ecosystem.
  • Identify opportunities for media work and provide advice on what services or activities would work best to meet media objectives.
  • Define and devise means to approach new audiences.
  • Develop a network of media sponsors.
  • Represent Odyssea in partnership meetings, as needed, and promote its brand internally and externally.
  • Be an active community manager for the online community of Odyssea.

What you’ll need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field.
  • Proven experience (at least 5 consecutive years) in a similar role, preferably within the non-profit sector.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both Greek and English with a keen eye for detail.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Experience developing and implementing communication strategies.
  • Proficiency in managing social media accounts and using social media management tools.
  • Knowledge of graphic design tools such as Canva or Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Experience working on a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tool and proficiency in software packages, including MS Office.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong multitasking, time management, and problem-solving skills.
