SENIOR ACCOUNTANT (ACCOUNTS PAYABLE)

ROLE SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for ensuring timely and accurate bookkeeping of all financial transactions, including construction-related interim payment certificates with proper VAT treatment, and supporting month-end and year-end closing processes. It involves regular review of trial balances and reconciliations to maintain accurate financial records, as well as communication with suppliers to resolve open items and ensure proper documentation. The role also covers tax reporting and compliance, preparation of payments and bank reconciliations, and delivery of reports to management and stakeholders. In addition, it supports audits, ensures adherence to financial policies and procedures, and contributes to continuous improvement of processes and systems within the department.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Timely and accurate bookkeeping of all incoming documentation and transactions
• Booking of interim payment certificates related to construction and applying proper VAT treatment
• Month and year-end close process
• Conduct regular review of trial balance and account reconciliations to ensure accurate reporting and ledger maintenance
• Communication with suppliers, confirmation of open items and assistance to suppliers to obtain accurate documentation
• Tax reporting and compliance
• Preparation of payment orders and payment processing in e-banking (occasionally)
• Bank reconciliation and bookkeeping of bank statements (occasionally)
• Reporting for management and shareholders
• Supporting internal and external audits
• Ensures compliance with finance policies and procedures
• Recommend new approaches, procedures and IT solutions to effect continual improvements in efficiency of the department and services performed

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

• BS degree in Accounting, Finance or relevant field
• Minimum 6 years of proven experience in accounting and finance
• Knowledge of local and international legislation in finance and accounting
• Experience in booking interim payment certificates in construction and determining VAT treatment (considered an advantage)
• Experience with MS Office, SAP/Oracle or any major ERP system
• Fluency in English

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:

• Sound understanding of process and transactional flows
• Strong practical and theoretical knowledge of general ledger accounting principles
• Strong analytical skills with understanding of financial analysis and business concepts
• High level of operational effectiveness with the ability to deliver accurate and quality results
