What You'll Do
- Originate, evaluate, structure, underwrite, and negotiate commercial loans, loan guarantees, and other financing solutions that support business growth across Massachusetts.
- Manage transactions through the full lending lifecycle, including credit analysis, approval, commitment, documentation, closing, and ongoing portfolio management.
- Prepare and present financing requests to the Credit Committee, senior leadership, and Board of Directors.

- Review loan and construction advance requests to ensure consistency with approved loan terms and Agency requirements.
- Build and maintain relationships with borrowers, banks, referral sources, and public and private sector partners to identify financing opportunities and expand access to capital.

- Maintain accurate loan and borrower records and contribute to financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and analytical presentations.
- Represent MassDevelopment at industry events, conferences, and community engagements while promoting the Agency's products and programs.
- Support special projects and perform other duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field; equivalent combination of education and relevant lending or credit experience will be considered.
- Five (5) or more years of experience in commercial lending, business lending, commercial real estate lending, construction lending, or a related financing environment.
- Strong knowledge of commercial loan underwriting, credit analysis, risk assessment, loan structuring, documentation, and portfolio management, including formal credit training or a strong commercial credit background.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze financial statements, evaluate creditworthiness, and structure complex lending transactions.
- Experience with commercial real estate lending and familiarity with state and federal tax credit programs, green finance tools, and other economic development financing resources.
- Proven relationship management and business development skills, with the ability to cultivate partnerships with borrowers, financial institutions, referral sources, and other stakeholders.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, organizational, verbal, and written communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word, and other financial reporting and database management tools.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while exercising sound independent judgment and managing an individual portfolio.
- Commitment to MassDevelopment's mission and to advancing equitable economic development for businesses and communities across the Commonwealth.
