The role & work environment: 

Corporate Sector Lending is a key department within ING Wholesale Banking responsible for all bank lending related topics for our corporate clients. From our Paris team we mainly service French headquartered corporates with c. >1bn revenues in a wide range of sectors on lending transactions booked in France as well as in ING’s global network. In close collaboration with other stakeholders such as the Sector Coverage, Capital Markets & Advisory, Sustainable Finance and Risk Management departments we strive to make the ING difference by applying Sector Expertise, being a Sustainability Pioneer, and combining Global Reach and Local Expertise. 

 

About the department: 

Our Transaction Managers are a.o. responsible for: 

  • advising our clients on all bank lending topics, including structuring and documentation, in cooperation with our Loan Syndications and Sustainable Finance teams 

  • preparing and presenting credit applications for both new transactions and reviews to the relevant commercial and credit risk committees 

  • analyzing the internal credit rating of our clients 

  • drafting, structuring and negotiating credit documentation for new facilities (in collaboration with our Legal department) 

  • assuring compliance of all lending transactions with regulatory requirements 

 

Responsibilities: 

Your mission as junior Transaction Manager will be to support Senior Transaction Managers in marketing, negotiating and structuring financing solutions for our French corporate clients. You work closely with the team on the execution of credit transactions which consists of financial analysis, evaluation of ESG performance, client ratings, pricing calculations and obtaining internal approvals. You are also responsible for monitoring our clients through the lifecycle of the lending transactions. As such: 

  • you assist with preparing client meetings and marketing materials including presentations and financial models 

  • you prepare commercial and credit applications and assist with defending these for approval with credit risk management and decision makers 

  • as part of the deal team, you will interact with our clients gathering relevant information on strategy, financial performance, industry trends and ESR topics 

  • you acquire and maintain your knowledge on lending products, ING policies, as well as the external environment (i.e. relevant industry trends, financial markets, and the macro-economic environment) 

  • with support of our service hub based in Manila, you prepare rating proposals and defend these towards credit risk management 

  • you provide support to the team on a variety of bank-wide topics in the field of innovation, sustainability, and regulation 

  

Profile: 

We are looking to strengthen our team with an enthusiastic team player who is at the beginning of a career in finance and who brings: 

  • ambition, curiosity, a team-player mindset, demonstrating an authentic enthusiasm for the banking profession 

  • ability to work rigorously and efficiently in demanding time schedules in a spirit of teamwork and a sense of customer service 

  • a Master’s degree from a reputable university or business school specializing in Finance 

  • ideally previous experience (max 2 years) in corporate banking, or financial advisory  

  • fluency in English, both verbally and in writing, fluency in French is a plus 

  • excellent writing skills and capacity to prepare concise analyses and recommendations on a variety of credit profiles across sectors, markets and geographies 

  • excellent quantitative skills allowing the preparation and maintenance of cash flow models in Excel combined with rigorous financial analyses
