Job Description Summary

The Field Service Automation Team, within the Services Product Management & Systems Engineering organization, is seeking a Lead System Engineer with demonstrated new product introduction and/or services expertise to execute wind turbine services programs. The lead engineer will have responsibility for leading engineering development of new wind turbine services programs, focused on automation to improve field servicing of wind turbines.

A successful system engineer is self-starting, independent, and demonstrates ownership within a program to execute engineering deliverables such as design reviews, design memos, risk assessments, bill of material releases, work instructions, validation, and supplier improvements. They will work closely with other Engineers, Product Line Managers, Program Managers, Sourcing, Advanced Research Center, and Configuration Management to facilitate engineering deliverables in a tightly interconnected team working towards the common goal of developing world-class field servicing of wind turbines. 

 

Roles and Responsibilities 

  • Product focus areas: bolted joint automation and other mechanical focused automation for field services. 
  • Conducts component and product integration. 
  • All activities that span multiple components and products and are concerned with how to integrate for maximum performance and operability. 
  • Manages product and systems requirements, specifications and flow down. 
  • Drives validation and verification activities for the overall product/system, including system level testing. 
  • Responsible for defining engineering requirements.  
  • Manages interface between components and execution organizations. 
  • Responsible for driving CTQ / Risk trades within the teams designing the components. 
  • Manages the overall product configuration and configuration control system. 
  • Developing in-depth knowledge of a technical discipline. 
  • Uses prior experience and acquired technical expertise to execute policy/strategy. 
  • In-depth understanding of key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work. In-depth understanding of how work of own team integrates with other teams and contributes to the area. 
  • Uses some level of judgment and has ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters but with guidance. 
  • Uses prior experience and on-the-job training to solve straightforward tasks. 
  • Has access to technical skills and analytic thinking required to solve problems. 
  • May use multiple internal sources outside of own team to arrive at decisions. 
  • A job at this level is likely to be an individual contributor with proven interpersonal skills. 
  • Provides informal guidance to new team members. 

 

Required Qualifications 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university or similar 
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in Program Management, Renewable Energy Engineering or related fields.

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $89,300.00 and $148,700.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.

 

 

Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
