As we continue to scale, we are seeking an experienced HR Generalist with deep expertise in New York Fair Workweek regulations within the restaurant industry.
Position Summary
The Human Resources Generalist – Fair Workweek Compliance will serve as a subject-matter expert on New York Fair Workweek laws and related scheduling practices. This role will partner closely with operations leaders, payroll, and the broader HR team to ensure compliance, educate managers, and support audits and corrective actions across multiple food service locations.
Key Responsibilities
New York Fair Workweek compliance
- Act as the primary HR resource for New York Fair Workweek compliance across restaurant operations
- Monitor, interpret, and apply Fair Workweek regulations and related labor laws
- Partner with operations leaders to ensure scheduling practices align with legal requirements
- Conduct on site audits of schedules, payroll records, and premium pay practices
- Investigate Fair Workweek-related employee concerns and recommend corrective actions
- Support training and education for managers on compliant scheduling practices
- Assist with agency inquiries, internal audits, and documentation requests
- Collaborate with payroll and HRIS teams to ensure system accuracy and compliance
General Responsibilities
- Support recruitment efforts, including posting jobs
- Maintain employee records and update HR systems
- Answer employee questions about HR policies, benefits, and procedures
- Coordinate training sessions and track participation
- Support performance review processes and employee development programs
- Assist with employee relations and help resolve basic workplace issues
- Travel regularly throughout the New York area and Northeast to support field locations
Qualifications
Qualifications
· Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience with New York Fair Workweek compliance in the restaurant industry
· Generalist-level HR experience supporting multi-unit food service or hospitality operations
· Strong working knowledge of wage and hour laws, scheduling regulations, and premium pay requirements
· Experience working in fast-paced, high-volume environments
· Ability to interpret regulations and translate them into practical guidance for operators
· Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
· Based in New York, with a willingness and ability to travel regularly throughout the Northeast
· Standing or walking for extended periods
· Lifting up to 15 pounds
· Reaching, bending, or climbing when required
· Ability to travel between locations
Preferred Qualifications
· Experience supporting multi-state food service operations
· Familiarity with scheduling, payroll, and HRIS systems used in restaurant environments
· Bi-lingual
· Experience with Microsoft Suite
