JOB TITLE: 

 Application Engineer – Workday Security 

Work Setup: 

 Hybrid – Eton Centris, QC 

Summary 

The Application Engineer – Workday Security is responsible for the design, governance, and administration of security across the Workday platform. This role ensures data privacy, access control, and compliance while enabling secure and scalable business operations. 

Responsibilities 

  • Act as SME for Workday Security, including role-based, user-based, and business process security frameworks  

  • Design and maintain security architecture, including domains, roles, and policies  

  • Configure and administer security across Workday HCM modules (Core HCM, Payroll, Compensation, Benefits, Talent, etc.)  

  • Ensure data privacy, segregation of duties (SoD), and audit compliance  

  • Support SDLC activities, including testing, deployment, and production support  

  • Troubleshoot and resolve security incidents, access issues, and audit findings  

  • Manage security alignment across integrations and connected systems (e.g., SAP, ServiceNow)  

  • Partner with HR, IT, Audit, and Compliance stakeholders  

  • Contribute to Agile/DevOps delivery and continuous improvement initiatives  

  • Maintain security documentation, governance artifacts, and procedures 

  

  Qualifications 

  • Strong hands-on expertise in Workday Security configuration and administration  

  • Deep understanding of:  

  • Security Groups (Role-based, User-based, Constrained)  

  • Business Process Framework (BPF)  

  • Domain and policy configuration  

  • Knowledge of Workday HCM architecture and cross-module dependencies  

  • Experience with:  

  • Advanced Custom Reports  

  • EIB  

  • Workday Web Services and integrations  

  • Solid grounding in SDLC, production support, and incident management  

  • Strong data governance, compliance, and audit principles  

Core Competencies 

  • Advanced analytical and troubleshooting skills  

  • Strong communication skills, with ability to translate security concepts into business terms  

  • High attention to detail and data accuracy  

  • Strong stakeholder management and collaboration  

  • Proactive approach to risk identification and mitigation  

Preferred / Nice-to-Have 

  • Experience with Workday Integrations (Core Connectors, Studio)  

  • Exposure to ServiceNow HRSD, SAP, or other enterprise platforms  

  • Familiarity with Agile/SAFe/Scrum methodologies  

  • Scripting or automation experience (Python, SQL, low-code tools)  

Experience Level 

  • Typically 5+ years in Workday engineering, with a strong focus on security and access governance
