Paço de Arcos, Portugal (Hybrid)

At Hitachi Rail we are looking for a Radio System Engineer for national and international projects. The main objective of this role is to design radio solutions for the railway sector.

Design radio solutions for Railway projects, including:

• Perform Radio Coverage Studies.
• Develop Radio System Dimensioning – 5G, GSM-R, TETRA, LTE.
• Conduct onsite drive tests and system optimizations.

Tasks to be performed:

• Formalise the specifications and the engineering plans used to develop the solution /product.
• Assemble the solution/product elements in a logical and controlled manner to evaluate the design, behaviour, interactions and performance, and to confirm that the requirements against which the solution/product has been designed are fulfilled.
• Demonstrate that the solution/product satisfies the overall approved operational needs and that the product data package is ready for release to production, testing, installation and to operation and support.
• Plan and coordinate the subsystem development within the constraints provided by the agreed architecture and design in order to satisfy customer requirements and ensure global design consistency and company rules, processes and business objective.
• Act as the project-wide interface for technical matters in his/her domain. Ensure subsystem interfaces are defined, consistent, and complete.
• Manage Technical Requirements within his/her domain.
• Provide technical expertise to Design Reviews with internal teams (operational, maintenance, etc) and costumers.
• Perform IVVQ activities, including system configuration, system verification and validation, and FAT tests.
• Support onsite installation.

Requirements for the role

• Education & Qualifications: Electronic/ Telecom Engineer grade.
• Previous experience (0 – 3 years) in Mobile Networks Systems design.
• Knowledge of GSM-R (advantage).
• Knowledge of WAN/LAN networks (preferable).
• Knowledge of VM’s and AD’s. (preferable)
• Experience in CAD and Visio design (preferential).
• High competency in Microsoft Office tools.
• Fluent in Portuguese, English and French (preferential).
• Communication skills.
• Teamwork competencies.
• Availability to travel.
