Great American is looking for an attorney to join our Property & Casualty Legal Department in downtown Cincinnati. This position will provide legal advice and counsel to our business partners on operations, regulatory and government affairs matters. The successful candidate will be a professional with excellent communication and analytical skills who complements our existing team.

To support these values, the person hired for this position will be expected to work in the office four days a week (Tuesday-Thursday required), with the flexibility to work one day remotely (Monday or Friday). Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities
Provide legal counsel to business units on operations, regulatory requirements, government affairs, and other legal matters.
Research, analyze and interpret insurance laws and regulations.
Collaborate with outside counsel and industry contacts on regulatory and government affairs issues.
Monitor, track and report on emerging legislation and regulations.
Research and write memoranda and other legal documents.
Draft, review and negotiate a variety of commercial agreements.
Collaboratively works with other members of the Legal team to achieve optimal results for our business clients.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
At least three years prior experience working for a law firm or in-house legal department.
A JD from an accredited law school and active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to communicate at all levels of the organization.
Ability to solve problems and to provide practical, risk-based advice.
Communicate clearly and concisely.
Common sense, good judgment, and solution-oriented attitude toward legal issues.
Prior insurance experience preferred but not required.
Ability to work independently and in a team.
Ability to travel as needed.
The level, title and compensation for this position will be commensurate with experience.
