Position Summary:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented BIM/VDC Design Intern to support our design team in developing and coordinating 3D models for electrical construction projects. This internship provides hands-on experience with industry-standard BIM tools and exposure to real-world project workflows, including coordination, clash detection, and prefabrication planning.
Under the guidance of experienced designers and project leaders, the intern will assist in creating accurate and coordinated models while learning how to deliver projects within scope, schedule, and budget.
Key Responsibilities:
Design & Drafting Support:
Assist in creating and maintaining coordinated 3D BIM models representing electrical systems and components.
Support the layout and positioning of electrical equipment, conduit, and raceways based on project drawings and specifications.
Help perform model quality checks to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with standards.
Assist in updating models and maintaining revisions throughout the project lifecycle.
Support the development of models for prefabrication purposes.
Maintain organized project files and documentation.
Project Coordination:
Participate in coordination meetings and assist with resolving design conflicts.
Support tracking of project progress to help ensure deliverables are completed on time.
Assist with reviewing project scope and requirements.
Collaboration & Communication:
Work closely with designers, engineers, project managers, and field teams.
Assist in communicating design updates and resolving issues with the project team.
Support the identification of design conflicts and help develop practical solutions.
Industry Learning & Development:
Gain exposure to electrical construction practices, codes, and standards.
Learn how BIM/VDC contributes to efficient project delivery and prefabrication.
Qualifications:
Currently pursuing a degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
Interest in BIM/VDC, construction technology, or electrical systems.
Basic familiarity with BIM software such as Revit, Navisworks, or similar tools is preferred.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Salary: $15.00 to $25.00/hour
