Birmingham City Council is committed to ensuring every child and family has access to high‑quality, inclusive, and sustainable childcare and holiday provision. We are now seeking a motivated and forward‑thinking Wraparound HAF Project Lead to drive the implementation of the Wraparound Childcare Expansion and Holiday Activities & Food (HAF) programmes across the city.
As the Wraparound HAF Project Lead, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and expanding childcare and holiday provision across Birmingham. You will:
- Lead the delivery of the Wraparound Childcare Expansion and HAF programmes.
- Map current wraparound childcare provision and identify sufficiency gaps across the city.
- Support the development of new childcare places to meet parental demand.
- Consult with parents, carers, providers, and children to understand local needs.
- Provide business planning and marketing support to new and existing childcare providers.
- Inspire and influence headteachers, governors, senior leaders, and childcare practitioners.
- Build and strengthen cross‑sector provider networks.
- Manage project budgets, resources, and timelines to ensure successful delivery.
- Lead project planning, scheduling, monitoring, and risk management.
- Analyse and evaluate complex data to report to internal and external stakeholders.
- Promote equality, diversity, inclusion, and safeguarding in all aspects of the role.
You will also line‑manage a small team, including Development Workers (3) and a Finance Officer (1).
We are looking for someone who brings:
- Proven experience leading and motivating cross‑functional teams.
- Strong programme and project management experience.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders.
- Experience producing complex written and verbal reports.
- Political sensitivity and the ability to manage sensitive information.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to work to strict deadlines.
- Analytical skills to interpret and present data effectively.
- A creative, innovative approach to service improvement.
- A commitment to diversity, inclusion, and safeguarding.
- Knowledge of Ofsted requirements, wraparound childcare quality frameworks, SEND Code of Practice, Equality Act, and Children & Families Act.
- Evidence of continuing professional development.
