The Buyer will support the Procurement Manager in sourcing, negotiating, and managing suppliers within the EV infrastructure and electrification supply chain.
The role focuses on securing competitive pricing, ensuring supply continuity, and onboarding compliant, high-performing suppliers aligned with ESG and operational standards.

Responsibilities

Sourcing & Procurement

• Source and procure materials, equipment, and subcontract services specific to EV infrastructure (e.g. EV chargers, cabling, switchgear, civils, installation services).
• Obtain and analyse quotations to ensure best value (cost, quality, lead time, service).
• Raise and manage purchase orders in line with internal systems and processes (e.g. Eque2 or equivalent).
• Support framework agreements for key categories (e.g. electrical wholesalers, plant hire, waste).

Supplier Management & Onboarding

• Assist with onboarding new EV supply chain partners, including compliance checks and documentation.
• Support migration of suppliers into central procurement systems and databases.
• Maintain accurate supplier records, pricing schedules, and agreed rates.
• Monitor supplier performance and escalate issues where required.

Cost Management & Value Improvement

• Support cost reduction initiatives through benchmarking and alternative sourcing.
• Track spend across EV-related categories and identify savings opportunities.
• Assist in negotiating pricing, rebates, and commercial terms with suppliers.
• Contribute to margin improvement strategies across projects.

Operational Support

• Work closely with project teams to ensure timely procurement aligned with project schedules.
• Expedite orders and manage delivery timelines to avoid project delays.
• Resolve invoice queries and delivery discrepancies with suppliers.
• Support rollout of requisition processes across operational teams.

Skills & Experience

Essential

• Proven experience in a Buyer or Procurement role within utilities or construction.
• Strong negotiation and supplier management skills.
• Commercially aware with the ability to analyse costs and identify value opportunities.
• Excellent organisational and communication skills.
• Proficient in Excel and procurement/ERP systems.

Desirable

• Experience within EV, electrical, or renewable energy sectors.
• Knowledge of EV infrastructure components and supply chains.
• Familiarity with framework agreements and rebate structures.
• Understanding of ESG principles and supplier compliance requirements.
