Job Purpose

To support the Business Data Manager in implementing and maintaining data governance, data quality, privacy, compliance, and metadata management practices within Nedbank CIB. The role involves ensuring data integrity including data quality, managing data lineage, supporting regulatory compliance, and enabling data-driven decision-making through effective data management and BI practices.

Job Responsibilities

• Support the implementation of data governance frameworks aligned with DAMA DMBOK principles.
• Maintain and enhance metadata repositories and data lineage documentation.
• Develop, maintain and enhance data quality rules and the management and monitoring of data quality
• Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations (e.g., POPIA, GDPR) and internal data policies.
• Collaborate with data stewards and business units to ensure data quality and consistency.
• Assist in the development and enforcement of data standards and policies.
• Utilize tools such as MS Purview, Ab Initio, for data quality, metadata and governance management.
• Conduct data profiling and quality assessments to identify and resolve data issues.
• Support the Business Data Manager in preparing materials for data governance council meetings.
• Monitor and report on data compliance and governance KPIs.
• Assist in the creation and maintenance of Power BI dashboards to visualize governance metrics.
• Provide training and support to business users on data governance tools and practices.
• Collaborate with IT and security teams to ensure data protection and access controls.
• Document data flows and lineage across systems and processes.
• Stay updated on regulatory changes and industry best practices in data governance.
• Design, build, and maintain Power BI dashboards to visualize data.
• Build and ensure data pipelines are efficient and reliable.
• Implement and manage security measures to protect systems and data

Essential Qualifications – NQF Level

• Advanced Diploma/National 1^st Degree

Preferred Qualification

• Degree in Information Technology, Mathematical/Statistics

Minimum Experience Level

• 2-5 years financial services relevant experience including a data management role along with data analyst and data engineering skills
