Job Overview:
The Associate Quality Ops Tech supports QA/QC inspection and coordination activities for offshore and onshore projects. The role is aligned to one primary inspection discipline: Welding, Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I), or Coating based on candidate qualifications and project requirements.
The role emphasizes inspection readiness, quality documentation control, and coordination to ensure compliance with project specifications, international standards, and quality management systems.
- Assist Senior Quality Operations Specialist-Offshore QC Coordination in preparation, maintenance, and update of offshore assigned personnel schedule, safety training status, the readiness of travel documents, and arrangement
- Maintain and update sub-contractor details, including inspection personnel approval, mobilization schedule, safety training status, travel tickets, weekly/monthly timesheet, follow-up of updated CVs, vacation schedule during the offshore assignment, and track record
- Assist in preparation of weld consumable requisition in coordination with the welding engineering, maintain the track record of welding consumables being sent offshore as per project requirement
- Arrange to send all welding consumables with relevant documents to the respective offshore locations/barge as per the guidance of the Senior Quality Operations Specialist/Welding Engineering
- Follow-up QA/QC document/inspection equipment movement for the offshore project and handling over the respective personnel as per the direction and guidance of the Senior Quality Operations Specialist-Offshore QC Coordination
- Prepare support documents and schedule as required to support the offshore activity as per the guidance of the Senior Quality Operations Specialist-Offshore QC
- Ensure that the personnel data and visa request forms are accurately prepared and verified before submission for further process
- Assist in arranging the air ticket and necessary visa for all offshore assigned personnel within the QC department as directed
- Maintain a record of security gate passes issued for the sub-con personnel who are coming for the work/visit, arrange their safety induction and orientation training as applicable
- Assist Principal Quality Operations Specialist-Offshore QC Coordination to verify vendor invoice and approval from Director Assurance and PMT by attaching Service Work Orders before forwarding submission to Accounts Payable for final clearance and payment
- Assist in planning and scheduling inspection activities in line with project timelines and Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs).
- Coordinate with senior QA/QC personnel to ensure inspection readiness, including availability of approved procedures, drawings, and checklists.
- Maintain and update records of inspector approvals, certifications, and competency status.
- Support quality compliance by ensuring all inspection activities align with applicable codes, standards, and project specifications.
- Monitor and track inspection progress, highlighting potential delays or non-conformities to senior team members.
- Assist in the review and handling of welding documentation including WPS (Welding Procedure Specification), PQR (Procedure Qualification Record), and WPQ (Welder Qualification).
- Support implementation of welding quality control processes, ensuring adherence to approved procedures and codes (e.g., ASME, AWS).
- Maintain weld traceability records such as weld maps, joint logs, and consumable control logs.
- Coordinate and follow up on Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) activities and ensure timely availability of reports.
- Assist in tracking welding consumables, ensuring proper storage, handling, and documentation in line with project requirements.
- Support inspection and verification of electrical and instrumentation installations in accordance with project specifications and standards.
- Assist in maintaining inspection records such as cable installation reports, continuity/insulation resistance test reports, loop checks, and calibration certificates.
- Ensure instruments and equipment are calibrated and compliant with project and regulatory requirements.
- Support pre-commissioning and commissioning inspection activities, ensuring proper documentation and test records are completed.
- Assist in verifying compliance with hazardous area requirements where applicable (e.g., Ex equipment).
- Support coating and painting inspection activities, ensuring compliance with approved coating systems and specifications.
- Assist in surface preparation inspections (e.g., blasting profile, cleanliness standards such as SA grades).
- Maintain records of coating application including DFT (Dry Film Thickness), WFT (Wet Film Thickness), and environmental monitoring logs (temperature, humidity, dew point).
- Assist in identifying coating defects and ensuring corrective actions are documented and tracked.
- Ensure coating materials are handled, stored, and applied in accordance with manufacturer recommendations and project requirements.
- Assist in preparation, verification, and organization of inspection reports and quality records.
- Ensure all inspection documentation is accurately recorded, traceable, and maintained in line with project quality requirements.
- Support compilation of inspection dossiers and final documentation for project handover.
- Track issuance and closure of inspection reports, punch items, and non-conformance reports (NCRs) under guidance of senior personnel.
Essential Qualifications and Education:
- High school diploma
- 2+ years of experience in Personnel Administration or related experience
- Typing and working knowledge of MS Office
- Effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- High School Diploma (Technical Diploma preferred)
- Minimum 2+ years in QA/QC coordination, inspection support, or related field
- Fundamental knowledge in any one of the following:
- Welding inspection processes and documentation
- Electrical & Instrumentation systems and testing
- Coating inspection techniques and standards
- Familiarity with international codes and standards (advantage)
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Good organizational and document control skills
Certification Requirements (Mandatory – Any One Discipline)
Candidates must possess at least one relevant certification in a specific inspection field:
Welding
- CSWIP 3.0 / 3.1 or equivalent
- AWS CWI (advantage)
E&I
- CompEx Certification (preferred) OR
- Electrical/Instrumentation technical certification
Coating
- BGAS Grade 2 OR
- NACE CIP Level 1 / Level 2 OR
- FROSIO Level I / II
