- About the Role
The Intermediate/Senior Accountant is the primary finance operator for RAHAL-IRQ, the group's main operating entity in Iraq. This role owns all transactional accounting, payroll, compliance, banking, Qi account management, and corporate card oversight. The position reports directly to the Head of Finance (Remote in Jordan) and coordinates on reporting matters with the Senior Finance Lead (Remote). - What you’ll work on:

The role will extend beyond the responsibilities listed above and will include ad-hoc assignments and cross-functional projects as required by the business — including but not limited to payment gateway integrations, ERP implementations, system migrations, and any other initiatives aligned with the group's operational and strategic needs. The scope of work will evolve in line with business growth, and the successful candidate is expected to contribute flexibly and proactively beyond their defined remit.
Role Responsibilities
Accounts Payable & Receivable
• Receive, log, and process all vendor invoices for RAHAL-IRQ; route for approval per the approval matrix
• Manage the AP aging schedule; prepare weekly payment run proposals for Head of Finance sign-off
• Chase outstanding receivables; maintain the AR tracker and report collection status weekly
• Reconcile AP and AR sub-ledgers to the general ledger at month-end
General Ledger & Month-End Close
• Own the full month-end close for RAHAL-IRQ: post accruals, prepayments, depreciation, and payroll journals
• Reconcile all balance sheet accounts; resolve reconciling items before period lock
• Maintain the fixed asset register; record additions, disposals, and depreciation monthly
• Post intercompany entries with the RAHAL-UAE entity; agree ICO balances with the Senior Finance Lead
Payroll
• Calculate and process monthly payroll for all Iraq-based staff under RAHAL-IRQ
• Prepare payslips and initiate salary bank transfers on schedule
• Submit monthly social security / labor authority contributions on time
• Maintain confidential payroll records and staff leave/benefit accruals
Qi Account Management
• Manage the company's Qi profile: monitor and record all inflows (customer receipts, internal transfers) and outflows (vendor payments, staff disbursements) daily
• Reconcile Qi balance to the accounting system ledger at month-end
• Coordinate with the operations team on any disputed or unidentified Qi transactions
• Ensure all Qi outflows are authorized in advance per the approval matrix
Company Cards & Team Cards
• Maintain a register of all active corporate and team cards, mapped to cardholder and cost center
• Collect monthly card statements; match every transaction to a receipt and a budget line
• Chase cardholders for missing documentation; enforce the monthly submission deadline
• Post card transactions to the correct accounts by cost center and nature
• Flag any out-of-policy spend to the Head of Finance for review before posting
• Reconcile all card liability accounts at month-end
Banking & Treasury – RAHAL-IRQ
• Monitor daily cash balances across all RAHAL-IRQ bank accounts; prepare a daily cash summary for the Head of Finance
• Execute approved payment transfers; maintain payment documentation and authorization records
• Perform weekly rolling bank reconciliations; resolve unmatched items promptly
• Liaise with RAHAL-IRQ's banking contacts on operational matters
Tax & Statutory Compliance – Iraq
• Prepare and submit all Iraq statutory filings: income tax, applicable indirect taxes, and any other regulatory submissions
• Maintain a compliance calendar for all RAHAL-IRQ filing deadlines; flag upcoming deadlines 4 weeks in advance
• Coordinate with external tax advisors; prepare supporting schedules for filings and audits
• Respond to audit requests and provide documentation as required
Reporting Support
•Provide accurate, timely actuals data pulls and account schedules to support the Senior Finance Lead's consolidation and MIS work
•Prepare RAHAL-IRQ level cost center reports on request
•Flag unusual items, timing differences, or anomalies that could affect group reporting accuracy
Requirements:
What Good Looks Like
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 3 to 5 years of experience in full-cycle accounting, preferably within an Iraqi entity
• Solid understanding of Iraqi tax law and statutory compliance requirements
• Hands-on experience with Qi and Iraqi banking platforms
• Proficiency in accounting software (ERP, Odoo, Zoho Books, QuickBooks, or equivalent)
• Strong Excel skills; comfortable with reconciliations and data pulls
• High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and ability to meet tight close deadlines
• Experience with corporate card programs and expense management is an advantage
Soft Skills & Languages:
Fluent in Arabic, Excellent in communicating in English, Time management, Handles multiple tasks and deadlines efficiently, Problem-solving mindset, Organized, Proactive, and willing to learn.
