Finance Specialist - Record to Report - 6 month FTC
Swindon, or Newport, Stockton on Tees

Band D: £34,101 per annum

It’s an exciting time to join UKSBS as we transform our business to be the leading UK public sector business service provider. We aim to become a very different organisation over the next few years as we move to a modern multi-platform, digitally enabled organisation.

The teams across Finance Service Delivery process a range of financial transactions and ensure procedures and processes are followed to deliver a high-quality service to our clients. We now have a requirement on a fixed term contract basis, for an additional Finance Specialist to work primarily within Record to Report.

Duties will include , but not are limited to the following:

  • Deliver end-to-end finance processes across relevant service areas (e.g. general ledger reconciliation, invoicing, payments, transactions or reporting), ensuring accuracy and completeness

  • Produce and review financial outputs, such as reconciliations, journals, reports or returns, ensuring they meet defined standards and controls

  • Investigate and resolve complex or non-routine financial issues, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions

  • Interpret and apply accounting principles, policies and controls to ensure consistent and compliant outcomes

  • Take ownership of escalated queries and issues, ensuring timely resolution and appropriate escalation where required

  • Provide advice, guidance and support to colleagues and stakeholders, including supporting less experienced team members

  • Ensure adherence to SLAs, controls, governance and audit requirements across all finance activities

  • Work collaboratively with internal teams, stakeholders and clients to resolve issues and deliver service outcomes

  • Support audit and assurance activity, providing analysis, documentation and evidence as required

  • Support system changes and improvements, including testing, implementation and service readiness activities

To be considered for the role, you will need the following

  • Strong understanding of core finance processes (e.g. general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, reconciliations, transactions, reporting)

  • Knowledge of accounting principles and financial controls

  • Ability to analyse financial data, identify discrepancies and resolve issues

  • Experience using finance systems (e.g. ERP platforms such as Oracle, SAP, Workday or equivalent)

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capability

  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy
