Description

LaPrairie Crane, a member of LaPrairie Group of Companies, is hiring an Senior Accountant to join its team at its office in Calgary, Alberta. 

LaPrairie Crane is one of Canada’s largest independent mobile-crane companies with fleet capabilities ranging from 5 – 600 tons, including all terrain, boom truck, carry deck, crawler, hydraulic truck, rough terrain, and tower cranes. 


Responsibilities:

  • Oversee month-end and year-end account variances and reconciliations.
  • Maintenance RO review and related JE posting.
  • Responsible for all payroll related analysis, reconciliations and journal entries.
  • Review, prepare and file monthly PST including self assessing PST of equipment (leased and owned) for all provinces.
  • Set up all recurring equipment JE’s.
  • Review and produce operational job cost summaries weekly.
  • Participate in weekly job cost meetings with Regional District Managers.
  • Review and produce equipment revenue and cost report summaries monthly.
  • Administration of equipment and assets, including the setup of new equipment and the maintenance of records in Explorer.
  • Administration and processing of vehicle and equipment registrations (ICBC, Alberta, SK, MPI and Prorate).
  • Assist in annual corporate asset insurance renewal process. 
  • Handle asset/ equipment requests from operations & maintenance.
  • Prepare and maintain intercompany equipment rental agreements. 
  • Obtain approvals for monthly equipment rentals for accounts payable.
  • Oversee the Intermediate Accountant.
  • Perform other related accounting duties as required or assigned.

 Requirements:

  • 4 - 5 years of related experience.
  • A college or university diploma/degree, majoring in finance or accounting.
  • CPA designation would be an asset.
  • Experience within the heavy equipment industry is a definite asset.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Advanced working knowledge of MS Excel and Outlook.
  • Previous experience with Explorer accounting software would be an asset.
