​​Position Title:​ Actuary, Group Experience Monitoring and Assumptions
​Reports To:​
Director, Group Actuarial Financial Management
​Department:​

​Term:​ ​ Permanent Full-Time

​​Work Arrangements: This is a hybrid role. You will work in our office in Waterloo, ON a minimum of two (2) assigned, consecutive days every other week, plus a fifth (5th) assigned day per month. You are welcome to work from the office more than the minimum requirement and there may be some roles that are required to work in our office more than the minimum requirement.


​ What you will be doing:​

  • Identify and understand meaningful trends in experience including claims, expenses and discounting
  • Review experience, and recommend pricing and valuation assumption updates, to address emerging experience trends and market changes
  • Provide support for new product initiatives, through valuation and pricing assumption development
  • Build monitoring reporting and framework for identifying key risks, and prioritizing assumption reviews
  • Provide insights from external studies and competitive pricing information
  • Support the business leaders in developing monitoring and claims forecasting analytics to help drive operational efficiencies
  • Work with the Corporate Experience Studies team to develop best practices and look for opportunities to partner with them on experience studies for Group


What you will bring:​

  • Require degree in Mathematics or equivalent and completion of FSA, FCIA requirements or equivalent (or near completion of FSA/FCIA). Candidates who are still progressing toward these designations will be considered for a level appropriate to their experience and exam progress.
  • Minimum 3 years insurance experience, including experience in Group is preferred
  • Require experience in experience analysis to support actuarial assumption reviews and product pricing updates
  • Advanced skills in Excel and other actuarial tools
  • Strong analytical, organizational and project management skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
