Summary
The Quality Engineering team is seeking a Quality Engineer in Rockleigh, NJ. In this position, you will be part of a team of best-in-class quality engineers dedicated to validating Crestron’s intelligent video camera systems. These include speaker-tracking cameras, face direction switching, and advanced conferencing experiences integrated into Crestron’s Unified Communications and AV platforms.
As a QE, you will work closely with senior quality engineers, firmware/software developers, and product teams to execute test plans, report issues, and help ensure our products meet high standards of quality and reliability. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the success of next-generation AV products in a hands-on, fast-paced engineering environment.
We are seeking individuals who are passionate about product quality, eager to learn, and have a solid foundation in system-level testing of hardware/software devices.
Responsibilities
- Execute manual test cases based on defined test plans for intelligent camera systems.
- Assist in verifying system behavior, including tracking, framing, switching, and integration with conferencing platforms.
- Log and track defects in bug tracking systems with clear, reproducible steps.
- Support root cause investigations by capturing debug logs, test data, and reproduction scenarios.
- Participate in regression and exploratory testing for new firmware and software builds.
- Help maintain lab setups, including hardware, cables, and system configurations.
- Collaborate with QE team members to ensure test coverage is maintained across key features.
- Learn and adopt tools used for test management, logging, and documentation.
- Contribute to test result documentation, reports, and team knowledge base.
Qualifications
- A minimum of a Bachelor's in Electrical or Computer Engineering is required. Master’s degree is a plus.
- 0–2 years of experience in a QA, test, or validation role (internships/co-ops count).
- Foundational understanding of software and hardware testing methodologies.
- Ability to follow test plans and execute test cases accurately.
- Familiarity with standard AV interfaces such as USB and HDMI is a plus.
- Willingness to learn how to use defect tracking tools and perform structured issue reporting.
- Strong attention to detail and curiosity in identifying inconsistencies in product behavior.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment and follow guidance from senior engineers.
- Self-driven, with a positive attitude and an eagerness to grow in the quality engineering discipline.
- Exposure to hardware/software systems preferred.
- Familiarity with Windows and/or Linux environments is a plus.
- Interest in AV systems, video conferencing, or embedded devices.
- Exposure to scripting (Python, PowerShell) or automation tools is a plus.
- Ability to document findings clearly and communicate effectively with peers and supervisors.
- Hands-on mindset with strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
- Ability to work independently, while fostering cross-functional collaboration.
- Willingness to challenge assumptions and advocate for quality at every step of the development cycle.
- Team oriented; strong interpersonal skills is essential.
Per applicable state requirements, the annual pay range for this position ($59,500 - $96,000) which consists of base salary (subject to performance), reflects the hiring range for candidates. Also note, an individual’s offer may vary from this range as it may be impacted by additional factors, including but not limited to the candidate's hiring location, qualifications, experience, and market factors.
