Location: Lekki, Lagos, Nigeria
Industry: Telecommunications / Internet Service Provider (ISP)
Employment Type: Full-Time (Onsite)
Salary: ₦250,000 – ₦300,000 Net Monthly
Experience Required: 3–5 Years
Work Schedule: 24/7 Rotational Shift

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive NOC Engineer to join our Network Operations Team. The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring, maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing the organization's telecommunications and network infrastructure to ensure maximum uptime, service availability, and customer satisfaction.

The ideal candidate must possess strong experience in ISP operations, network monitoring, Mikrotik administration, microwave radio systems, Cisco networking technologies, and incident management within a fast-paced telecommunications environment.

Key Responsibilities

Network Monitoring & Operations

  • Continuously monitor network performance, availability, and health using network management and monitoring tools.
  • Perform 24/7 network surveillance and proactively identify service degradation, outages, and performance issues.
  • Monitor backbone, access, wireless, fiber, microwave, and enterprise connectivity networks.
  • Ensure maximum network uptime and service reliability across all network infrastructure.
  • Analyze network events and alarms and take immediate corrective actions.

Incident Management & Troubleshooting

  • Respond promptly to network-related incidents, alarms, and customer-reported issues.
  • Troubleshoot Layer 1, Layer 2, and Layer 3 network faults.
  • Diagnose connectivity, routing, switching, and wireless network issues.
  • Escalate unresolved incidents to higher-level technical support teams while maintaining ownership until resolution.
  • Coordinate with field engineers and technical teams to ensure timely fault resolution.
  • Maintain detailed incident logs and root cause analysis reports.

Network Administration & Maintenance

  • Perform routine system administration and maintenance activities on network infrastructure.
  • Configure, manage, and maintain Mikrotik routers and wireless devices.
  • Monitor and maintain microwave radio links and wireless communication systems.
  • Manage Cisco switches, routers, and related network equipment.
  • Implement configuration updates, software upgrades, and network optimization activities.
  • Ensure network devices comply with security and operational standards.

Performance Management & Optimization

  • Monitor network traffic patterns, utilization trends, and bandwidth consumption.
  • Analyze network performance data and identify areas requiring optimization.
  • Recommend infrastructure improvements to enhance service quality and network efficiency.
  • Generate reports on network performance, utilization, availability, and incident trends.
  • Assist in capacity planning and future network expansion initiatives.

SLA & Service Assurance

  • Ensure all incidents and service requests are handled within agreed Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
  • Monitor service quality and customer-impacting issues.
  • Track vendor and supplier performance against contractual service obligations.
  • Escalate SLA breaches and service delivery concerns to management.
  • Support efforts aimed at improving customer experience and service reliability.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate documentation of network configurations, incidents, procedures, and operational activities.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly operational reports.
  • Document troubleshooting activities and resolution procedures.
  • Develop and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) where necessary.
  • Provide timely reports to management on network performance and operational status.

Security & Compliance

  • Monitor network security events and report suspicious activities.
  • Ensure compliance with network security policies and operational procedures.
  • Support disaster recovery and business continuity initiatives.
  • Participate in network audits and compliance reviews.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or HND in Computer Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of hands-on experience in a Telecommunications, ISP, NOC, or Network Operations environment.
  • Hands-on experience with Mikrotik configuration and administration is mandatory.
  • Proven experience with Microwave Radio installations and wireless communication systems is mandatory.
  • Experience managing enterprise and ISP network infrastructure.

Professional Certifications

The following certifications are highly desirable:

  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) – Mandatory
  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) – Added Advantage
  • Mikrotik Certified Network Associate (MTCNA) – Added Advantage
  • Mikrotik Certified Routing Engineer (MTCRE) – Added Advantage
  • Other relevant networking certifications will be an advantage.
