Description

Role

We’re looking to bring on an Agent Engineer who will architect and build the agentic systems powering FLORA.
You will work closely with the founders to invent how creative professionals interact with AI in a generative age. This is a first-principles role: you’ll design, implement, and scale the backbone of agentic workflows that let creatives orchestrate text, image, and video models seamlessly on FLORA’s infinite canvas.

What You’ll Do

As an Agent Engineer, you’ll design and build the intelligence layer of FLORA — systems that make multi-modal creative workflows powerful, reliable, and intuitive.

You’ll be hands-on across the entire stack — from frontend to backend to infra — collaborating with product and design to ship features that balance technical power, usability, and creative control. As a result, full-stack expertise is required.

Key responsibilities:

  • Architect agentic systems that orchestrate LLMs, APIs, and tools across multi-step workflows.

  • Implement tool calling, context engineering, memory, and retrieval (RAG) for coherent, reliable agents.

  • Build observability, evaluation, and guardrailing frameworks — including automated checks, regression testing, and human-in-the-loop scoring.

  • Develop robust retry, fallback, and error-handling mechanisms to make agents production-grade.

  • Experiment with fine-tuning, prompt design, and multi-modal integration (text, image, video).

  • Deliver polished end-to-end features across frontend (React/Next.js), backend (APIs, Modal), and infrastructure.

Requirements:

  • Hands-on experience building agentic systems — e.g. multi-step pipelines, assistants with memory, tool-using agents.

  • Full-stack engineering skills: confident shipping production features across frontend, backend, and infra.

  • Familiarity with observability, evaluation frameworks, guardrails, and reliability testing for AI systems.

  • Experience with memory and retrieval: embeddings, vector DBs, summarization, context management, and RAG pipelines.

  • Strong background in orchestration across models, APIs, and tools — including retries, fallbacks, and edge case handling.

  • Solid understanding of LLMs, fine-tuning, context engineering, and tool calling.

  • Product-minded — you care as much about usability and creative control as you do about technical novelty.

  • 5+ years of engineering experience, ideally with enterprise-grade agent systems.

  • Python not required, but encouraged.

Stack
We're a React Next JS Typescript app using a combination of APIs and Modal for our backend.
