The Role

We are looking for a medior Financial Risk Specialist with a solid understanding of market and ALM risk to join the Capital & Treasury Risk Chapter within Financial Risk.

In this role, you will:

  • Perform regular risk monitoring and analysis

  • Enhance risk frameworks, methodologies, and monitoring processes

  • Contribute to bank-wide regulatory and internal change initiatives

  • Review and guide junior team members, supporting their professional development

About Financial Risk

Financial Risk (FR) safeguards ING’s financial health through forward-looking risk management across the bank. It sets the financial risk strategy and risk appetite, and develops and maintains robust risk frameworks, policies, and models to ensure sound risk management and regulatory compliance. As the second line of defence, FR provides independent oversight and challenge on risk-taking activities, monitors risks across the balance sheet, and ensures consistent implementation of risk standards globally while maintaining close interaction with regulators and key stakeholders.

FR is organized into five Tribes, each covering a distinct risk domain: FR Frameworks & Controls (FC), Banking Risk (BR), Trading Risk (TR), Counterparty Credit Risk (CCR), and Capital, Treasury & Liquidity (CTL). Each Tribe is further structured into Chapters aligned to specific areas of responsibility. This role sits within the Capital & Treasury Risk Chapter of the FR CTL Tribe.

About the Capital & Treasury Risk Chapter

The Chapter is responsible for managing and overseeing the global risk profile of Group Treasury activities, providing independent risk advice aligned with ING’s Risk Appetite Framework.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Global oversight of Treasury risk activities across entities, ensuring alignment with the Financial Risk Appetite

  • Ownership of credit spread (CS), foreign exchange (FX), and equity (EQ) risk frameworks in the banking book

  • Risk appetite setting, limit cascading, monitoring, and model ownership

  • Regulatory compliance and reporting, including supervisory and internal reporting

  • Acting as the primary Financial Risk contact for Group Treasury activities in Amsterdam

Your Work Environment

You will join a young, international, and energetic team of 14 professionals based at Head Office.

We offer:

  • An open and informal culture with a strong execution mindset

  • A steep learning curve and opportunities to take ownership

  • A role at the center of regulatory developments and strategic Treasury initiatives

You will work closely with:

  • Group Treasury (Front Office)

  • Other Financial Risk Chapters

  • Local risk teams

  • Finance, IT, and Operations

Who We Are Looking For

You are an analytical and proactive professional who can challenge and improve risk frameworks, methodologies, and governance structures.

We particularly value candidates with:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in trading, treasury, risk management, or product control

  • Strong understanding of market, ALM, and/or treasury risks

Your Profile

  • University degree in Economics, Econometrics, Finance, or another quantitative field

  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in Financial Risk, ALM, or Treasury

  • Strong understanding of EBA technical standards for banking book interest rate risk measurement

  • Solid knowledge of financial products, including IRD, FXMM, and Fixed Income valuations

  • Experience with automation and programming (e.g., Python) is a strong plus

  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills

  • A team player with a proactive and result-oriented mindset

  • Ability to drive initiatives forward in a persistent and constructive manner

  • Decisive, resilient, and adaptable in a fast-changing environment

  • Capable of translating complex risk topics into clear insights
