This position has a term length of 1 year plus 1 day.

Location - This role is hybrid with a mix of remote and in-person. Work primarily takes place in Edmonton.

The coordinator provides comprehensive operational, administrative, and research coordination support for a multi-year, mixed-methods health services research project. The position is responsible for coordinating project activities across quantitative and qualitative components, supporting data access and ethics processes, managing timelines and deliverables, and liaising with project partners including Alberta Health, continuing care organizations, and research team members. The role will ensure the implementation of project objectives, including administrative data analysis, qualitative data collection, and knowledge mobilization activities. The coordinator supports Government reporting requirements, supervises research staff, and maintains alignment with grant deliverables and timelines.

Project coordination and management (35%)

  • Coordinate all phases of the project from initiation to completion
  • Develop and monitor project timelines, milestones, and deliverables
  • Track progress against grant requirements and reporting deadlines
  • Coordinate team meetings, agendas, and documentation
  • Support financial tracking for project activities

Research operations (25%)

  • Coordinate ethics applications, operational approvals, amendments, and annual renewals
  • Support administrative data access agreements and processes (e.g., SPOR data platform)
  • Oversee data management processes and documentation (quantitative and qualitative)
  • Ensure adherence to research protocols and ethical standards

Qualitative research coordination (20%)

  • Support development and refinement of interview guides
  • Coordinate participant recruitment across partner organizations
  • Oversee scheduling and logistics for interviews
  • Supervise transcription and qualitative data organization

Staff supervision and training (10%)

  • Supervise research assistants
  • Provide onboarding and training related to research protocols and procedures
  • Monitor performance and provide ongoing support

Partner engagement and knowledge mobilization (10%)

  • Liaise with health system partners (continuing care operators, policymakers)
  • Support knowledge mobilization activities
  • Assist with preparation of reports, policy briefs, and presentations
  • Master’s degree in health sciences, nursing, epidemiology, public health, or related field
  • Experience in health services research or applied health research
  • Knowledge of qualitative and/or quantitative research methods
  • Familiarity with mixed-methods research is an asset
  • Experience with research ethics and data governance processes
  • Strong project management and organizational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

This position is subject to all applicable terms and conditions of the collective agreement between the Governors of the University of Alberta and the Non-Academic Staff Association (NASA).
