At Kira Systems, we strive to push the boundaries of machine learning, design, and experience. Our products help our users uncover relevant information from unstructured contracts and related documents, augment their expertise, and in turn, fundamentally change how they work.

As a UX Researcher, you will play a critical role to deeply understand our users and customers in order to guide the design and build of our products and experiences. You will focus on understanding our users and customers, how they work and use Kira today, while also exploring how they may in the future.

Partnering with Designers, Product Managers and Developers, your research scope will span from early generative research and problem definition to post-launch validation and learning, using a variety of research methods. You will also be working alongside our machine learning Research Scientists to try to translate algorithmic models to user-centric ones.

You will work to understand our users and customers by conducting user interviews and contextual field research; framing problems; synthesizing insights; validating and testing concepts or prototypes; and learning how our users and customers are using our launched Kira products in their work setting in new and unexpected ways.

What you’ll be doing:

Planning Research

• Partner with Product, Design and Development to define our product roadmap by understanding and advocating for user needs

• Design and execute user research studies that span the entire product development process, varying in approach, scale, scope and time-frame
• Plan, coordinate and conduct longitudinal studies with users and customers to understand their experience over time
• Contribute to shaping and evolving our formal user and customer research panel

Conducting Research

• Conduct research using a range of qualitative research methods and selected quantitative research methods
• Conduct 1-on-1 interviews with our users and customers around the world, both in-person, on-site and remote
• Bring design prototypes into the field and provide actionable feedback based on findings
• Coordinate and lead the ongoing user validation via in-person and remote usability testing

Synthesizing Research

• Synthesize and share insights and findings with Product, Design, Development team members to inform product and design decisions
• Prioritize actionable outcomes and follow through on insights, ensure they result in product design improvements, changed product priorities and/or roadmap enhancements

Documenting Research

• Share broadly the user insights and findings with the immediate Design, Product and Development teams, as well as the broader Kira team
• Identify and develop new ways to share user and customer insights across all Kira team members

WHO YOU ARE:

• 3+ years in user testing, research or experience design for web, mobile, emerging digital and in-person experiences
• Strong in-person and remote 1-on-1 interviewing skills, including planning and conducting interviews
• Experience in conducting research in a B2B environment
• Extensive experience with a broad set of generative and evaluative research techniques
• Flexibility and adaptability to identify the best research methods and tools depending on objectives, constraints and customer considerations
• Willingness to experiment with new research techniques
• Curiosity and passion for unpacking and solving complex problems
• Ability to deal with ambiguity – we’re shaping the future and our research often focuses on the unknown or future behaviours
• A deep understanding of the end-to-end iterative product design process
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• Experience working in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to both take high-level direction and have ownership over projects
