Position Summary
The CSE’s Strategy and Division Manager is tasked to support the Division leaders innovating and implementing a strong strategy and operations foundation for the Division of Community Support & Engagement. This work includes but is not limited to communications strategy and implementation (e.g., website, university marketing and coordinating platforms), assessment and evaluation support, and overseeing the daily office operations, organization, and administration. The Strategy and Division Manager reports to the AVC of Community Support & Engagement. There will also be a “dotted line” reporting structure to the AVC for Academic Community Engagement, and the Ombuds for various work responsibilities listed below. This role operates in a dynamic environment with shifting priorities and is responsible for aligning work to the highest-priority needs of the Division leadership.
Essential Functions
Strategy
- Provides coordination for strategic planning and initiatives including logistics, timelines, and supporting materials/frameworks.
- Develops, monitors, and creates reports for quantitative and qualitative assessment in the support of Division strategic goals and initiatives.
- Works directly with the AVCs and Ombuds to support the implementation of strategic goals.
- Joins Division leadership in meetings to discuss high-level and sensitive topics, providing thought partnership.
- Supports creation, implementation and assessment of special projects to further the mission of the Division as needed.
Division Management
- Coordinate internal and external CSE meetings and events; prepare agenda and materials for meetings; send out calendar invitations and support materials.
- Generate professional documents for letters, proposals, reports, and spreadsheets for both internal and external audiences.
- Recruit, hire, and manage a “front desk” student staff for the CSE suite. Create, maintain, and evaluate student assigned work and tasks in support of the division including the creation of programmatic advertisements, Crimson connect event creation, and general level suite upkeep.
- Coordinate with Community Commons Building management, Facilities Management, and/or AV/IT on suite needs, technological or material support, compliance with building needs and requirements (e.g., fire training).
- Support CSE leadership and team members in the management of additional CSE operational spaces (e.g., the care closet) as needed.
- Oversee shared internal documents to ensure the Division has effective and consistent processes, policies, and expectations.
- Regularly engage with all Division members on operational needs
Communications Management
- Development and administration of communications channels including, but not limited to the website, handouts, Crimson connect, and other foundational tools to ensure the critical webpage information is accurate and up to date, events and programs are successfully marketed, and division visuals and guides are up to date.
- Develop and implement processes with input from division team members to funnel programmatic and event-based communications and marketing needs to student worker team for creation and support.
- Coordinating internal and external CSE division newsletter, special notifications to university stakeholders (e.g., Bridge takeovers), and other communications-based projects.
Budget Operations
- Assisting AVC for Partnerships and Operations with regular budget oversight, support for team members, and annual budget development.
- Coordinates internal resources and third parties/vendors to support divisional operations (e.g., use of PaymentWorks to schedule vendor ID creation, submit invoices for payment, and oversee event sponsorship processes).
- Support team members in completing expense reports and resolving issues in the process.
- Purchase office equipment, technology, and supplies in support of larger suite spaces, including the kitchen and generally needed supplies.
Administrative Support
- Supports coordination of AVC’s schedule for maximum efficiency and productivity each day.
- Organizes, reviews, and researches pending issues for divisional leadership.
- Supports AVCs, integrating information, composing materials, and a variety of written communications for use by the division.
- Provide additional direct executive support to both AVCs and the Ombuds based on their respective needs.
Division of Community Support & Engagement Responsibilities
- All members of the DCSE team support and engage with the DU community across constituency groups toward creating inclusive education and workspaces, the work of dialogue, pluralism, and de-escalation in programmatic planning and implementation.
- Support DCSE in the planning and hosting of signature and large-scale events.
- Represent the Division for a variety of university-wide committees and task forces as determined by the AVC.
- Maintains strong relationships with other administrative and business support staff in key partner areas.
- All other Division support as needed

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- 3–5 years of experience in administrative operations, program coordination, project management, or executive support.
- Experience supporting senior leaders or complex organizational initiatives.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in higher education administration.
- Experience supporting strategic planning initiatives.
- Experience developing operational processes or workflow improvements.
- Experience tracking program metrics or performance indicators.
- Experience coordinating cross-departmental initiatives.
- Experience supervising student employees or interns.
Working Environment
- Standard office environment.
- Unexpected interruptions occur often, and stress levels are moderate to high.
- The noise level is quiet to moderate.
Physical Activities
- Ability to sit in front of a computer for an extended period.
- Occasionally required to move about the office/campus with the capability of transporting objects up to 20 lbs.
Work Schedule
Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Salary Grade Number:
The salary grade for the position is 10.
Salary Range:
The salary range for this position is $67,000-$70,000.
The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The University may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, but not based on a candidate’s sex or any other protected status.
