Description
Location: Onsite - Montreal
Valnet is seeking a highly analytical and commercially minded Financial Analyst with a strong blend of strategic finance (CFA-style) and accounting rigor (CPA-style). This role sits at the intersection of financial reporting, forecasting, valuation, and business decision support, partnering closely with leadership to drive insights, performance, and long-term growth.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Analysis & Strategic Support
Build and maintain financial models for forecasting, budgeting, scenario analysis, and long-range planning
Analyze financial and operational performance, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities
Support strategic initiatives including investments, M&A analysis, pricing, and capital allocation decisions
Prepare executive-level presentations and recommendations based on data-driven insights
Accounting, Reporting & Controls
Support month-end and quarter-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance
Analyze variances between actuals, budget, and forecast; explain key drivers
Assist with financial statement preparation and ensure alignment with GAAP/IFRS standards
Partner with accounting, audit, and tax teams to strengthen financial controls and processes
Business Partnering & Operations
Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, sales, and leadership to support business decisions
Translate complex financial information into clear, actionable insights for non-finance stakeholders
Improve financial processes, reporting automation, and data quality
Qualifications
Required
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field
3–6+ years of experience in financial analysis, FP&A, accounting, consulting, or investment-related roles
Strong financial modeling, forecasting, and analytical skills
Solid understanding of financial statements, accounting principles, and performance metrics
Advanced Excel skills (experience with BI tools is a plus)
Preferred
CFA candidate or charterholder and/or CPA designation (or actively pursuing)
Experience in high-growth, public company, consulting, or investment environments
Exposure to valuation, capital markets, or transaction analysis
Familiarity with ERP systems (NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, etc.)

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
