Position Summary
Durham Children’s Aid Society is seeking a post-secondary student to join our Human Resources team. This role offers a unique chance to gain meaningful, hands-on experience in a dynamic and supportive HR environment. As the HR Student, you will work alongside our Compensation and HRIS Specialist, Learning & Development Analyst, and our HR Coordinator gaining valuable insight into how HR technology and systems influence today’s workplace. You will support key functions such as generating employee reports, analyzing HR data, and researching job market trends to inform strategic planning.
Beyond technical tasks, you will play an active role in developing and delivering internal communications and training initiatives. You will also receive training on the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) and learn how to apply accessibility principles to communication and learning formats.
This placement is designed to help you build essential, transferable skills in areas like communication, data analysis, project coordination, and inclusive workplace practices. You will also gain exposure to the non-union side of a unionized environment, offering a well-rounded perspective on HR best practices, learning and development strategies, and organizational culture.
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a post-secondary institution (college or university) in a Human Resources, Business Administration or related field.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with HRIS systems (e.g. Dayforce) considered an asset.
Additional Information
Candidates must undergo and successfully pass a background check before an offer of employment may be made. Proof of education is required.
