Description

BIG’s Copenhagen headquarters is looking for a Project Manager (Urban Design / Masterplanning).
Reporting to the Partner in Charge, you will lead the day-to-day management of urban design and masterplanning projects—driving delivery, coordination, commercial performance, and stakeholder alignment across large, multi-layered scopes.
You will be central to shaping a reliable delivery structure around ambitious design work: managing schedules and deliverables, orchestrating inputs across disciplines, tracking scope and assumptions, and ensuring the team can focus on high-quality outcomes with clear priorities and governance.
Key Responsibilities

Project Delivery & Planning
  • Develop, manage, and maintain project schedules, milestones, and deliverable plans across phases.
  • Set up and manage deliverables lists and trackers (reports, drawings, diagrams, frameworks, guidelines); coordinate internal review rhythms and deadlines.
  • Ensure scope and deliverables reflect agreed masterplan requirements (framework plans, land use, density/FAR logic, mobility, public realm structure, phasing, guidelines).
Scope, Fee & Commercial Management
  • Track scope, deliverables, and change impacts; flag risks and opportunities early and escalate as needed.
  • Monitor fee burn, resource forecasts, and time registration; collaborate with Project Controlling on reporting, invoicing workflow, and financial performance.
  • Ensure technical or design changes are assessed for cost/schedule impact before commitments are made.
Stakeholder, Authority & Consultant Coordination
  • Lead day-to-day client and collaborator coordination; run meetings, drive actions, and maintain a clear decision trail.
  • Coordinate cross-discipline inputs typical to masterplanning (transport/mobility, infrastructure, environment, landscape, economics, GIS/data) and ensure they integrate coherently.
  • Structure feedback cycles (stakeholder/authority rounds): comment logs, response plans, package updates, and narrative continuity.
Governance, QA/QC & Reporting
  • Run weekly project leadership check-ins to align scope, risks, decisions, and next actions.
  • Coordinate QA/QC planning with technical leadership; ensure reviews happen at the right time and comments are closed out.
  • Issue regular project updates and reporting to leadership and client teams; ensure consistency in documentation and templates.
Team Leadership & Resourcing
  • Structure team workplans and task assignments; coordinate staffing needs with the staffing team.
  • Support a healthy, high-performing project culture—clear priorities, realistic planning, and effective delegation.
Skills & Competencies
  • Strong project planning, prioritization, and delivery discipline in design-led environments.
  • Good understanding of project contracts and deliverables.
  • Strong commercial awareness: fee burn, scope control, resourcing, and clear reporting. .
  • Comfortable managing multi-stakeholder processes and integrating technical and strategic inputs into a coherent masterplan delivery structure.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • High proficiency with project management tools and structured documentation workflows (schedules, trackers, action logs, reporting).
Qualifications & Experience
  • 6+ years of experience managing urban design and/or masterplanning projects (city districts, large sites, regeneration frameworks, mixed-use plans).
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate multi-disciplinary consultant teams and manage stakeholder feedback cycles.
  • Experience tracking masterplan metrics and assumptions (density/FAR, land use schedules, mobility frameworks, phasing) and maintaining consistency across packages.
BIG offers:
  • International group of architects, technologists, engineers and specialists with more than 45 different nationalities
  • Great variety of company discounts
  • Salary and pension scheme based on experience and qualifications
  • Flexible lunch options
  • Possibility of further education
